kcny
Well here's a newbie mistake (and one I won't make again)!I bought 500' of white SPT-2 wire thinking it was plenty for my first show. Well, today I used it all and almost have all my lights up.I know I'm probably going to pay high for shipping (obviously need it here Wednesday at the latest so I can finish wiring thurs/fri).While I peruse online can anyone either point me to any current sales or willing to sell me some? I'll take any color, needs to be SPT-2 and I would say 250' is enought to complete my show the way I have been planning?Does Home Depot sell it? I'll have to check as I'm going out that way soon....- Thanks for any helpKasey
The Pest
Yes home depot or any other big hardware/DIY store should sell it.
Aaron Maue
Last weekend, I found some at Home Depot and Menards. Lowes didn' have any. Good luck.
kcny
Yes, I see Home Depot has SPT-2, but it lists Indoor use/not suitable for wt locations. Is this a "standard disclaimer"? Is that still ok for outdoor use?
The Pest
As far as i can tell yes standard disclaimer. It should still work. the only thing it might not have a UV inhibator in it so it will probably get brittle after a few months/years not sure haven't done any test's my self. TitanBry77
I did the same thing! I got 500' first year newbie, thought it would be plenty, GONE! Home Depot has it, just brown though, so I got a 250' roll of brown yesterday and last night ordered a 500' roll from Action Lighting online in green. I don't see me firing off the lights until this coming weekend anyway.Good luck!
reitan_family
I have purchased many rolls from Action Lighting too. There wire is a great quality and a fair price. Shipping may be a time issue for you, but good luck.

TitanBry77
How about the vampire plugs male/female, has anyone seen those local? I've not seen them in any of the big box stores.
kcny
Yes, I found both my local Lowe's and Home Depot - they sell 250' rolls for $60.00I have a question though - they state SPT-2 wire, but list it as 16/2. I know the original 500' I bought online was 18/2.Why the difference if they are both SPT-2? Will my "standard" SPT-2 vampire plugs work on both 18/2 and 16/2? You can have 18, 16, 14, 12 AWG wire with SPT2 insulation on it.I prefer SPT1 in 18 AWG, have bought over 6000 feet of it since 2007 and no problems. stanward
I would recommend ChristmasLightShow for SPT stuff. I live in Hawaii, and he is one of the very few vendors who are willing to ship to Hawaii via US Postal Service (not a problem for you).

That is, you buy a spool of SPT wire at 250' and get 50 male/50 female vampire plugs(free) with it, 500' (if they sell/sold it) would get you 100 male/100 female vampire plugs(free), etc..Would just be really nice to have them do up a package deal like that instead of having to buy a spool of SPT from them and then go and find these plugs/receptacles from other places. And I think these stores should carry those type plugs as well as C7 and C9 sockets YEAR ROUND too. Shoot, I can't even find C7 sockets locally to me anymore. Used to get them from Michaels and now they don't sell them any longer(found this out in 2010 when I went there to buy some), used to get them from ceramics stores, but they've all closed down in my area that sold them and even the hardware stores no longer carry them like they used to. It was just nicer to be able to drive to a place, buy what I would need and get it WHEN I needed it, NOT have to order it, pay ridiculous shipping fees and WAIT for it to get here.Ah give me some of those olden days when I could BUY things without having to go on the internet (didn't exist!) to get my supplies. TitanBry77
Definitely! I ordered some from Action, found out it won't be here until Nov 30... oy! Does anyone know if the stores sell the vampire plugs?
