mrforemark Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 I ordered a starter system a couple weeks back. LOR says it will ship in a couple weeks. I ordered everything including the S3 bundle. According to their site, I should be able to get a copy electronically. I've tried, but can't get it yet. It says that there is nothing available that is affiliated with the provided email address. Will I get it once the order is shipped or billed or is something amuck?TY, Mark
Guest guest Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 You can download the demo software any time, just won't be able to control lights until you have the license.Check your email, as your license key was likely emailed, and, not sure how long it is taking these days, but typically, its pretty quick.
Guest guest Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 My license wasn't e-mailed to me until after my purchase of the DC-MP3 Showtime Director. Usually LOR doesn't send the license until after the shipment has arrived at your address. Once I got my showtime director and had paid for the license, it came via e-mail shortly AFTER the items I ordered arrived. Usually license is sent after a controller order, but I had purchased a used controller, which at the time did not qualify as I tried purchasing a license PRIOR to getting the DC-MP3 Showtime Director. But once your order has shipped and ARRIVED, you should receive your license within an hour or so after the delivery has been confirmed. At least that's how it worked when I got mine back in Feb. 2010.If any of that's changed, only LOR can say. Just know I got an e-mail before buying the DC-MP3 Director saying the only way I could purchase the software and license was by buying a controller, which at the time I didn't need, but did need the DC-MP3 Showtime Director which also requires the software to be able to work. Even so, I still ended up purchasing 4 additional controllers, as well as upgrading my license to ADVANCED within a month of getting the software and director unit. This was my experience, others may be different, each case is different. But just telling what my experience was in acquiring my license.

bob Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Usually LOR doesn't send the license until after the shipment has arrived at your address. This is not so.If you purchase software (or a package including software) via the online store, you should get your license info emailed to you pretty quickly. If you don't get it in a reasonable amount of time (be a little patient, please - sometimes everything works slower than usual), you can always check the license retrieval page, which should cause your license info to get emailed to you. If that tells you you don't have a license, or if it doesn't actually send an email to you (again, within a reasonable amount of time), open up a ticket on our help desk to get someone who will try to figure out what might have gone wrong. To be clear, I'm not saying that it always happens so quickly, and I'm certainly not disputing that it happened slowly in this case. I'm just saying that if it happens slowly for you, then something out of the ordinary is happening, so you might want to check into it in the manner I described above. Also, to be clear, I'm talking about purchasing through the online store. I'm not really sure how purchases done manually via phoning in and talking to some LOR person work; I suppose it's possible that licenses will get to you slower in that case (I don't know).
mrforemark Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 Bob, Thanks for reply. The purchase was done on line. When I called to check order status, they said it would be the week after thanksgiving. I did try to retrieve it but the response was that no license info was found associated to my email address. I'll open a ticket.TY, Mark
Guest guest Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Bob, my purchase WAS done on-line, but it was a unique case and how it worked for me. So that's all I had to go by when I posted that statement about getting the license AFTER I received my DC-MP3 Director. Which actually took a couple e-mails back and forth to LOR before I was able to attain my license after I had the DC-MP3 Showtime Director in my hands, but couldn't use it or do anything until I could get the license. I purchased the license PRIOR to the Director and got an e-mail I wouldn't get a license without buying a controller, since I had bought a used controller, just tried to buy the softweare and license, which LOR would not process or let me do, then I bought the DC-MP3 Showtime Director and got it, but still NO LICENSE even though I paid for it with the Director purchase. It took Dan looking into and I finally got my license and then once that was done, ended up buying 4 more controllers from LOR and upgrading to the Advanced license level. So, yes, I guess my case was unique from the normal way of licensing being handled. And, again, is why I posted it in the manner I did.So for me, it was true and also why I also posted these statements at the end of my commentary: "This was my experience, others may be different, each case is different. But just telling what my experience was in acquiring my license."
mrforemark Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 A ticket has been created. Thanks, Mark
mrforemark Posted November 23, 2011 Author Posted November 23, 2011 My license arrived yesterday via email.Anyone care to offer insight on getting it right the first time for a newbie. I haven't opened it or downloaded anything yet. I do have some free sequences that I've been sent that I'd like to use. I'd also like to try my hand at sequencing myself. I'm no techy by any stretch but really look forward to my display dancing this year.Starting out small. Just 1 16 ch. system 5 trees and a home made mega tree that I plan to use 7 channels for. 1 for star and 6 for stringers.I've been anxious and waiting and want to avoid disasters. You folks have been a dream to and old guy with little tech savy.Happy Turkey Eatin'Mark
