cliff65Z
We are thinking we need to put up a sign or signs to tell people to tune the radio, turn off their lights etc. But not sure if that is really helpful. Anyone have an idea for us? This is our first year with LOR.
Richard Hamilton
We put all that info in the radio announcement at the begninng of the show so we can change it if needed. Our sign only shows the radio station in big red letters.
Max-Paul
I agree with Richard. But expect the smucks to still leave on their lights. The title of this thread got me thinking of trying to herd cats.
jimswinder
on busy nights I would stand by the street with a "political sized sign" that had "Tune Your Radio to 101.9 FM" on one side and "Please turn off Your Lights" on the other...So when they drove up and parked, but were too far away to read my Radio sign, I would flash them "Tune To" message,...if they left their headlights on, then the other...An announcement is fine at the start of the show...but what about those who show up after the announcement? :shock:And I understand most of you guys have a life...and don't have the time to stand outside for about 4 hours... scubado
Keep in mind, some cars it's difficult if not impossible to turn off the headlights unless you turn off the car. My wife's car I haven't figured out how to turn off the lights with the car still running.

I found that out...asked several people to turn their headlights off and got nothing but blank stares from them...about five minutes later they just give up and shut the car off!!! George Simmons
I have tune to signs and run an announcement every three or four songs. Most have a tag reminding people about their headlights.Jim - somewhere in the owner's manual it will tell you how to turn the headlights off while the engine's running. Every vehicle sold in this country has that capability.I'm actually thinking of doing an announcement asking people who don't know how to shut their headlights off to come back another day after they've figured it out. It's becoming more and more of a problem, and with traffic in the street all evening long I'm no longer concerned by offending one vehicle if it keeps the other dozen people watching the lights happy. Guest guest
I have NEVER in my life ever heard of a car that doesn't have a headlight switch somewhere! Even my late mother in laws Volvo had headlights that came on with the ignition, setting the parking brake DID NOT turn them off either. There was a switch in plain sight, but it wasn't labeled!I just started flipping anything that could be flipped, rolled or pushed, eventually I found the switch to turn the dang headlamps off on the steering column! Nurples
With most cars, it's not the "headlights" that are on, so to say... It's the "Daytime Running Lights". Most of these turn off when the vehicle is in park or when the parking break is applied. I've seen some vehicles where the parking break must be applied when the car is turned on in order for them not to come on when the car is running. In my blazer, I just pulled the fuse for them. Didn't like them on all the time.

Guest guest
My '97 Jimmy has DRL's, but I "installed" a switch where I can turn them off or set the parking brake to turn them off. So at least now I have a choice!
