Saving Default Settings

Hey, I'm using S2 (verison 2.8.1 I think). Everytime I open a sequence I need to first maximize the window. Then my channel buttons are real narrow so I need to widen them so I can read things like "red Mini tree 1" or whatever. Then I open the visualizer, have to maximize that, then slide the zoom bar to the left about 5 clicks and then I am ready to go.

I work on sequencing save and exit and if I open this again or any other of my sequences then I have to go through the whole process above each time. Is there not a way to save this as default ? It does seem to keep my "zoom rows" in or out settings but not these other settings. Thanks

I'm not sure (don't remember) if 2.8.1 had this capability or not. But click EDIT, scroll down and see if preferences is listed, if so click on it, a window will open allowing you to set certain defaults. Click on Display Preferences.

Not sure if 2.8.1 had these options or not.

It has been a long time since I used 2.8.1. It only existed for about 5 weeks before it was replaced with an updated version.

Thanks I'll look tonight and double check which version I have. It just seemed odd that these common settings were not remembered- hopefully I'll find what you said.

As of version 3.0.0, various settings such as the width of channel buttons are saved on a sequence-by-sequence basis. You can find more information on this in the help file's What's New page (search it for "persistent").

Thanks Bob, that's what I am looking for, the display preferences just doesn't do it.

I am on 2.8.10 and so I can't do what you said and I also got a couple of new G3 boards today and my hardware utility says "01-Unknown Device ? ? ?" So it looks like i need to upgrade ! ! I bought the S3 renewal and downloaded Lor 3.1.2. As you know it's real late in the season so I don't want to have to re-work a lot either in sequencing or in the visulizer etc.

What's the simplest way to upgrade with the least pain. Can I just upgrade to S3 Lor 3.1.2 and continue with my sequences and Import channel config/visulizer etc ? ?

Once I upgrade I'm assuming it will recognize my new G3 controllers. Can I then leave some controllers on CTB16D 4.30/ CTB16PC 4.40 and the new G3 with whatever firmware they shipped with or do I need additional upgrades on my older controllers.

Thanks for the help, I would hate to try an upgrade and then find out I messed up all of my existing sequences I just finished :P

All of your S2 sequences will work just fine in S3

Just wanted to update and say thanks. I upgraded to S3 which was very simple. Fixed all my problems, recognized my new controllers, saved my channel bar defaults, etc etc. Appreciate the prompt feedback- Thanks !
