MDM-MP3 trigger lag

I have a show downloaded onto my SD card. I have a quick down and dirty switch wired to switch 1. When I activate the switch, there is about an 8 second lag until the sequence begins. Once it starts, everything runs smoothly. It will look real bad at the lighting reveal and nothing happens when the big switch is thrown. Any ideas.

I am not sure why it takes a full 8 seconds. It shouldn't. How long is the run of wire from the switch to the controller? Which director are you using?

I have a 6 switch "user control panel" that is 150 feet away from my controllers. I think there is about a 2 second delay.

Regardless, the workaround is easy - as you do your countdown, throw the switch at the 7 or 8 second point, so it will start when you want it to (assuming you want it to light up when you reach zero of course. :P)

Practice this 2 or 3 times ahead of time, and you should be all set.

Thank you for the response. But if I have to try and time up the delay so that the show starts with the flip of the switch, I would have been better off saving my money and not purchasing a mini director at all. I need a solution quick or it will be time to return this thing.

Thanks to Chuck Smith, my delay issue has been resolved. Chuck suggested running the show through one time completely, then try it again. He thought there might be a buffer issue with the file. What ever the cause, this fixed it. The first time I power up the show, there is a lag. I ejected the SD card to stop the show, plug it back in, wait a few seconds, flip the switch again, and the Griswald display fires up.
