Thanks for the posting.Let me tell you about a thought that comes to mind every Veterans day.25 years ago when I first married my wife, I got up on Veterans and prepared to go to work, my wife was still in bed. I asked why she was not going to work and she replied, "our Bank does not work on Veterans day".That got me strangely upset. I said, "WHAT! You aren't even a US citizen yet, here from another country, you have nothing to do with the military, yet you get the day off? On the other hand, I spent 5 years in the Navy, over a year in Vietnam in jets, and I have to work? What the hell is wrong with this picture?"That's when I decided I was no longer going to work on Veteran's Day while every other protesting twerp sits around on their lazy butt and complains! Fortunately, I have a great wife who has supported that concept every since. On Vet day, she always does something nice.

scubado Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 I had a vacation day off today to work on my lights. Around 10:30 I could here a marching band playing downtown in my small town. I stopped what I was doing and headed over and joined the Veterans service going on. Tonight, I'll have my landscape lights running RWB.
Guest Don Gillespie Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 not only does the federal goverment of Canada take the day to honor our vets pretty much the rest of Canada takes the day also, I shut the store down and the guys take the day with pay, I usaully go to the vet memorial park for the activities, however today I stopped for a moment of silence at 11am, with out the vets and the active military personel today its no telling where the world would be and what kind of shape it would be in, my grand father and father were both in the navy and they made a point of making all the kids remember the vets on Nov 11 god bless them.

(Especially those elected to 'serve' us):XI was in the Army Reserve for 6 years, but don't consider myself a vet. I have way to much respect for the people who fought and died for our freedom to put myself in a group with them.
