JoeKinne
What are you trying to mount to? That will normally be your determining factor? On side note, last year I mounted the LOR cases to my Mega-Tree with just U-Bolts with varying amounts of success (they never held well and were a pain to mount and tighten), this year I mounted the controllers to a hunk of plywood and then used a conduit strap mounted to the plywood.I am mounting to a piece of 1 1/4 metal conduit with a 1" standoff conduit strap. The strap is mounted on a 1/2" piece of plywood that the controller box is mounted to. Attached files
Jim Hans
I do essentially the same thing. I mount my controllers to plywood and then I can attach the plywood to whatever surface I am using for that controller, that year... to a pole, a stake, a wall, etc.
fxdwg
i was planning on using mainly posts of some sort. i have tried the wood thing in the past, however then i have to deal with primer and heavy coats of paint so the wood doesnt rot from year to year. (my decorations wind up being outside until late march... so they get lots of snow and moisture...)plus i need to get the controllers up higher off the ground, to keep the outlets up off the wet ground. i like the conduit strap idea, maybe i could use some sort of composite deck boards.thanks for the info and help! JoeKinne
I like the Composite deck board idea. A single 1x6 10' would be enough for at least 7 controllers and would never rot or change color (according to the sales guy). I found that the conduit strap holds better than the U-bolts for my stuff, I use a 1" strap for a 1 1/4 pole.
