TiSwAs Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Can the LOR controllers control colours in RGB LED rope lights - as in turn them red/orange/yellow/white etc? or do i have to use specific colours and use them on different channels? or will they just shine RGB (white)? Thanks

Not sure without more information about the RGB LED rope lights you have if you need a LOR AC or LOR DC controller.
Guest guest Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 If the RGB rope light is AC and has 3 seperate male plugs, one for each color then any AC output (CTB16PC) controller can controller them utilizing 3 channels, 1 color per channel. If the RGB rope light is DC, then you would need a DC Controller to connect each color to, still require 3 channels, but output the RGB Rope would be DC. Instead of 3 male plugs on the RGB rope light, you'd have 4 wires, whatever the common is to ALL colors (anode = +, cathode = -), then 1 wire for each color, Red, Green and Blue, all on together would make white. So it depends on your RGB rope light, it also depends wether or not the RGB rope light has its own control system, then it gets a little more complex, as you'd need to remove the factory controller from the rope light and rewire it for an LOR Controller. You'd need a multimeter to check the built in rope light controller to see if the output is AC or DC, and what the voltages are to modify it for an LOR AC or DC controller depending on the voltage type output from the built in control system of the RGB Rope light.Hope that may help.
Max-Paul Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Can you supply a link to where you bought your rope light. It would help us to look at and review what you have. Then we could better advise you to what LOR has and how you would use it to connect to your rope light.
TiSwAs Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 thanks for the replies - i've not yet purchased any rope light but i think you have more than answered my question by providing explainations regarding the AC and DC.Slightly more complicated for me but will post back when i have sound some rope lights.Cheers
