My Living Room looks like a Dept. Store prepping for Christmas!

Well my neighbor says she's going to start decorating this weekend (Starting Saturday 11/5) and issued me a challenge as to who will be done first. I'm sure she will, as I still have a lot of sequencing to catch up on, not to mention convert last years sequences for this year and do a bit of tweaking on them, which I've already completed quite a few of them.

But her display will be static(with the possibilty of some motion controlled lights),I offered to connect the lights she's putting in the bushes outside her apartment to some spare channels I have open, but she declined the offer!

Where as mine, the lights will be dancing along to the music via outdoor speakers and the FM transmitter.

I told her she'll probably beat me by a wide margin since I won't really be ready for another week or so to finish up some of last years sequences and hopefully add in a few more new ones this year.

But currently my living room is a disaster, my controller panel is inside for the time being, I have Christmas totes, lights(LED), extension cords, wire frame lighted deer(4 incandescent),Sidewalk Baby Coro Arches(4 incandescent), our very large 8.5' Rotating LED Christmas Tree (own controller) and a load of other Christmas items all over the place, so it looks like a department store getting ready to put out their Christmas items for sale and/or as a store display in the making.

So looks like I will be attempting to get some lights up starting Friday so I can get at least a one day jump on my neighbor, and now we've had a couple other neighbors join in and say they're going to start decorating this Saturday as well.

The race is on to see who gets everything placed and ready first, I know I'll be last, but then, my display won't even compare to what they're doing! So being last isn't a bad thing in this instance.

Let the decorating and the fun begin......

BTW: I know some of you folks have already been decorating since late August/Early September because of the size of your displays. I hope I never get that big I have to start doing Christmas and no longer do Halloween, which is my favorite Holiday, Christmas is second in my case.

My neighbor bowed his head in shame last year at my Mr. Christmas display. I have heard through the grape vine he is trying to one-up me this year. He has no idea what I have planned. I want him to finish setting up first, so he can gloat.....until I turn mine on! :D:P

It's my 2nd year and I don't want to freak out the neighbors so I'm staging everything that needs some assembly inside then I'll push it all outside.

Master bedroom has: 9 reindeer, 1 sled, 2 trees.
Formal livingroom has: 13 6' trees and 4 3' trees.

Plus 1 patient wife.

Especially if Jim lets you borrow his collapsing Weber Tree. No way your neighbor can beat that!

when I moved here 3 years ago, my neighborhood only had a few houses with simple lights. since I do what I do, there has been more houses putting up lights. most of my neighbor tells me, they enjoy my lights better. and know they could never catchup with what I have. they just cant wait to see what the hugh star thing is going to look like when its lit up.

It's almost a year of beating up on Jim about his tree and someone can still come up with a good zinger! :D

I did all the hard stuff just before Halloween (trees, roof, icicles, bushes).
Sunday I'll put the 4 arches and the 6 tomatoe cage trees and Sunday night is testing night.

I have 8 ccr's strung from the blinds running down the sofa and across the floor to the the controllers in the family room. The mini-trees are behind said sofa. There's one maggie tree in the dining room and three others waiting for lights in the family room.

This weekend we (meaning my wonderful hubby) has to dig another support hole for the pole for the ccr tree. While the concete is setting we will be setting up a test ccr tree at the site of the original mega-tree.

If time permits, bush, post and window frame lights will be set in place. It's starting to get very busy at our house! Can't wait!

Funny, this whole LOR thing started a year ago with a "friend" challenging me that he can do a better Christmas display than me, placing a $50 bet on that. Needless to say after $2000ish later I won that $50 using the Mr. Christmas book weight. I asked him if he wanted to place another bet this year, but up it to $1000.. He didnt bite.. I should of kept this whole LOR thing quiet. BUT, I do have a neighbor that is trying to outdo me. She has NO clue what I have planned.. Lights start going up Saturday! YAY

In 2009 I won the Christmas Light Contest where we were living with a "Mr. Christmas 4 channel wireless unit). Then in 2010 while we were still living there they started a new rule that last years winners would be disqualified, which I thought unfair. The 1st prize isn't all that wonderful anyway, a $50 Gift Certificate to Home Depot, which is what we won in 2009. I still went full bore in 2010, but the rub was they didn't bother to tell anyone that won 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize the previous year we would be disqualified for the 2010 contest until 2 days before they make the decision on who would be the winners. My next door neighbor won 2nd prize and even he thought "How Rude" they waited so late to inform us, but everyone else in the subdivision all knew it just a few days after Thanksgiving! And we get the notice we don't qualify like around 12/18, when the final votes would be on 12/20.

I didn't really care myself, just the principle of them not informing those of us that had won, weren't qualified to be considered just a couple days before final tallying was what ticked us off.

Even if I knew I wouldn't be qualified to enter or be considered, I still would have put up a display, just because I enjoy and have fun doing it. But they figured (or so they told us) if they informed us we wouldn't be considered, then we wouldn't decorate for Christmas. Talk about D*U*M*B!!!

I got quite a few items out, controller stand w/controllers, the deer, arches, and some other decor. Got a couple light strings strung in the tree we have out front, but still have a lot to do with it before bringing out some other stuff that would be in the way of stringing the lights in the tree.

Guess tomorrow (Sat. 11/5) I'll be out early starting on the rest of the stuff.

I bet when your wife came home, she just about had a heart attack seeing all of that stuff in there.

Actually William SHE HELPED me bring it all in!

She thought I'd be "lighting it all up" Friday night. She's very excited to see it all lit and operating! Told her, yes, I'll light it up for testing things to be sure everything is where it's supposed to be after I get it all placed and cords ran, and to check for any burned out bulbs on the incandescent decor, but the "Official Lighting" will be Thanksgiving night!

My wife and I got most of the outside lights, controllers, etc. set out yesterday and today. Good thing, since it has snowed about 2" so far tonight! I hope it melts so we can get all the cords in place soon.

Arrgh, I hear it's supposed to rain over the weekend and possibly through Monday, if so, that'll put me out of commission until at least Tuesday. And I wanted to get a lot of this done over the weekend!:(

I got all the lights up on the windows, Got my arches setup, Icicles hung, candy cane pinwheel attached, some of the controllers in place.

Just need to setup the sleigh and reindeer, drums, Presents, 3 mini trees, 2 spiral trees, FM sign.

Come to think about it I guess I am about halfway ready right now.
