Vertically wrapping MegaTrees..

We've all seen videos of MegaTrees chasing up and down as well as around, JB had posted a vid from SeaWorld that had MT's vertically wrapped..

(CCR's and LED matrix' notwithstanding) I'm wondering how the wrapping actually goes, as the tree gets smaller, how would you keep the light density the same (or close). Use shorter light counts going up, 100's then 70's then 50's? I can see the wraps at the base would have to involve many more strings to get the band thickness the same as you go around the wider base.. say.. 1'-2' layers. Then use a lesser amount of strings going up.. just wondering..

No, Those trees use full length (top to bottom only) pixel strings from Stellascapes.

10,000 RGB pixels, 30,000 channels. Each RGB pixel is individually controlled.

what do you think one of those trees would go for?

depends on Labor and structure, hardware and pixels will run some where between $1k and 5k depending on size. I am sure Sea World got a good deal with Stellascapes being the quantity of them.

The company does not publish their prices (for their commercial products). Everything is a custom quote.

I have seen prices for their consumer products. (pixel strings and controllers) I will try to find them.

Found it:
85 node pixel string $129
Node Controller (4 strings) $199
Pwr supply per controller $ 24

Note these are the consumer grade products and the prices listed may not be current

EDIT: Found commercial prices:
85 node pixel string $185
Node controller (4 strings) $319

Of course, installation and prigramming is extra. 74 trees are in the video.

Chuck, shhh!

Stellascapes had to sign a non-disclosure agreement. No "official" word that Stellascapes did this project.

I shouldn't have used their name in my first post or on the pricing. :D

Got a feeling that much of his work, he signs those papers with what I seen on TV and the Net :)
