Tune To Sign

That looks pretty sharp! How will it be lit? Is it backlit (translucent plexi) or lit with floods from the front? What size is it, and how far from the street will it be?

I am going to build a frame and box for it, so it will be backlit with some extra white leds on a single channel. The sign itself is 36x28. It was a cutoff from a prior project the local shop had completed, and it is saving me almost a controller. It will be about 8-10' from the street.

I like it! I might suggest one change... If you're going with a back lit sign try and get as much light through the letters as you can. The light will go through the white spaces better than the red. Although the red shows up well during the day. Think firetruck! At night there's not a lot of contrast between your red text and the green background. Gold or yellow is a good contrasting color to the green background and will allow more light through the elements of the sign you want people to see. I've attached a sample.

Hope that helps.

I would agree about the color of the letters. That red will light up, but won't be as bright as the white would be, and may get lost with the other colors.

I did something similar (not as nice as yours), but you can see the difference between the red and white:

I know 36 x 28 sounds BIG...

but have you made a cutout of that size and placed it outside where you are going to have your sign and walked around looking at if from different angles and distances?

You might be surprised...

I use a full 100ct string of lights inside my sign. Only a few feet from the road and lights up well enough to read but not take away from the show at the same time.
