Guest guest
First off: Light-O-Rama is a great company that stands by their products and fixes issues as quickly as possible when they are aware of them, it's what sets them apart from many others out there, bar none.Okay, so I'll admit I wanted to upgrade to S3 originally, just didn't have the funds to do so, nor do I at the moment, but somehow I think that came as a blessing in disguise! Why?Because of all the issues I have read about others having issues with S3 freezing up, issues with the shortcut keys doing strange things, and all the others, of which I've lost track of, I think NOT having the funds to upgrade actually kept me from a big frustration level from all the issues currently at hand within S3!1. So who didn't upgrade and are you glad you didn't? And will now wait it out for these bugs that have reared their ugly heads to be fixed before doing so.2. And to those that did upgrade and have issues with it, are you now sorry you didn't wait it out a little longer before you did that upgrade? This is in no way an official poll or anything, just curious as to how those that may not have upgraded for whatever reason feel about the current situation with S3, and to those that did, how they feel about doing it so quickly and finding problems within the program that may be creating them frustration. As with any software by any company, once it's publicly released, we all know there may still be kinks or bugs that get by the beta testers, and even the developers as they can't test it on every machine, or the way that every end user may put the software to use.And I'll repeat the first part of this post once more: Light-O-Rama is a great company that stands by their products and fixes issues as quickly as possible when they are aware of them, it's what sets them apart from many others out there, bar none. scubado
My main computer is on S3 and programing my first song on S3. I haven't explored the new features yet in the Editor. There is a learning curve with the new visualizer, but it's pretty cool. I also got Superstar just for the auto sequencer, I'm not impressed with it for my sitution. I have not upgraded my show computer yet, nor tried any lights with S3 yet. This weekend I plan to make the switch.

Freezing up? Yeah, one person was running XP SP3 pn a Celeron computer with 256 meg of RAM. Yep, will probably freeze up everytime. Shortcut keys - never experienced a problem and I've remapped a lot of them. How many problems posted were resolved due to operator error?1. So who didn't upgrade and are you glad you didn't? And will now wait it out for these bugs that have reared their ugly heads to be fixed before doing so.The optional Super Star seems to have some bugs, but we didn't really Beta Test it, mainly due to lack of documentation2. And to those that did upgrade and have issues with it, are you now sorry you didn't wait it out a little longer before you did that upgrade?Nope, no issues. Glad to have S3. Orville, sorry you didn't have $30 to upgrade to S3, but a post like this just sounds like trying to justify a pity party. How about if I send you $30 so you can also have fun and like hundreds of others really enjoy S3 ?Or were you hoping to find a couple of people to join you as you sit in your corner having a pity party. jeffl
I'm working on getting my channels in order now, somewhere around 570, maybe more. I'll be running on S3. From what I have seen I think the "new" part of S3 is more about the building tools rather than the engine. At the end of the day, I still think the engine is solid. JBullard
Jeff, I agree with you. Pretty much the same basic engine as S2, but gosh, so many new tools to make building easier and more fun.

jem5136
Orville, I have NOT upgraded to S3 yet, so I am with you in that aspect, but my reasoning behind it is a little bit different that yours, I think. My funding for my show is very limited because I am a teenager and so all my controllers are DIY controllers, and I am using a software called xLights to run my shows (I don't know if anyone has heard of it before). But it lets me use LOR sequences and run them with my DIY controllers without having to purchase an iDMX, which is out of my budget. So, what I am getting at is, right now, all of my sequences were sequenced this summer in S2, and they were tested and working with this software, and I don't want to upgrade to S3 and have my sequence not work with this software because I upgraded. The created of the software says it will most likely work, but they haven't tested it; but I'd rather be safe than sorry. So this is my reason for not upgrading yet.I do plan, however, to upgrade once the Christmas season has past, somewhere around January so I can learn and test the software. And I've heard that it supports DMX too, and my controllers are all DMX, so that would be awesome if I could use LOR to run my show and not have to use a different software!Oh, and I just remembered, before it was released, I told myself I wouldn't upgrade until after the Christmas season, 1. so my show wouldn't be messed up and 2. so LOR could work the bugs out and get everything straightened out before I try to get the major release. LORi P
I have not upgraded either. I am so far behind in getting everything lined up for Christmas, that I don't even want to think about upgrading right now. I will upgrade. But not until January or February when I have recovered from my first LOR display.
Guest guest
I upgraded, and the same weekend, we have a blizzard in the northeast in october.Never again.I'm going back to S1.
ItsMeBobO
Cant even remember S2. There have been lots of Kudos and thank yous posted on S3 too. And I presume many satisfied S3 users who dont post at all. Its natural for issues to be posted, but I dont understand inferring from them that S3 has too many problems to use. Guest guest
Sorry Mr. Bullard, THIS IS NOT A PITY PARTY, it was a legitimate posting from all the issues I had been reading about S3.I *do* plan to upgrade, but NOT until after some other situations are under control around here, this will probably be well after Christmas.Sorry you took this as a "pity party" as that IS NOT what this posting is or was about, not one thing to do with pity for me, I don't feel sorry for myself because I did not upgrade, and that's what your post implies, if that's the way you read it, nothing I can do to change that, but, again, that WAS NOT the intent of the original thread. So keep your money, when I upgrade I plan on upgrading with the SuperStar software along with the S3 software as when the situation finally does come under control here, I also plan on adding some new controllers and hopefully a couple of CCR's at the time along with the S3/SS upgrade. And yet another misinterpretation of the WRITTEN word, as I'm sure if I had stated the original post in person, it would NOT have been taken as a pity party, but as a blessing in disguise, at least for me.And from what I've read it's S3 that keeps getting posted with issues, NOT so much with the SuperStar, or are people lumping the SS/S3 together as one, if so, then those posts are and would be very confusing to folks, because we're reading it as S3 issues, when it may be an SS issue, or vice versa in some other cases. So now the question is "Which software is really the issue here? S3, SS -or- BOTH?As that could impact my opinion on things too.

goduke21
I have had S3 since it was released and never experienced one problem. Tweaked 14 songs and have 144 channels and 4 ccr's. I love the new visualizer and the new channel grouping. No offense to anybody here but if you don't have $30 to spend then you are in the wrong hobby. jimswinder
Couldn't wait for S3 and upgraded right away with the SuperStar software....I have not run into any bugs yet...Another top notch product form the men and women of LOR...Worth the price of admission at even TWICE the price!!!You haven't upgraded yet???That would be like eating raw meat as a caveman as you sit next to the guy who just discovered fire....
JBullard
Actually Orville, without using or even seeing S3 has made the assumption that S3 is JUNK, because a few made posts with problems.By using his logic, then S2 was also JUNK, because there is 100 PAGES of questions in the LOR S2 forum. Therefore again using Orville's logic, LOR releases JUNK software.Of course, I strongly disagree with his logic. ItsMeBobO
Disclaimers about wonderfullness do not erase glaring assumptions. The disclaimer is completely ignored when it goes on to make contrary statements instead of asking questions. Asking Is this really a problem? Should I wait to upgrade? will invite discussion instead of disagreement. Normally I dont contribute to these threads but this one ...
