clenaghen
I was plugging in one of my controllers for tonights show (Halloween) and the LOR hardware utility will not recognize it. The status light on the inside goes solid when I plug it in, so its talking in some way. Hardware utility will just not see it. I ended up just using a different controller and swapped it out, so I can get by, but need to get this resolved before the BIG show comes up here in a month! What I have checkedI have tried different cables, checked fuses, different electrical outlets, changed the UnitID to a different number, rebooted computer, tried all ports on the panel.Thoughts? Ideas?
dslowik
Is your Max Unit ID set to a low number? Try bumping it higher and search again.

clenaghen
I have not, and not sure how to do that. Will check manual. It was working when I unplugged it last year, but who knows...
dslowik
If you've got rotary dials for channels:power off unit.set to channel 00.power on for 10 seconds.power off.reset to channel to some other number.power up and see if it can be found. Guest wbottomley
I went through all of the SOP and still a no go. Will try a couple of things tomorrow afternoon that I have up the sleeve.
clenaghen
I tried the reset steps and it didnt fix it. I have a case open with LOR, so we'll see what they have to say. If its a matter of replacing something on the board, or even a board itself, may have to do that. I have everything set up for 64 channels this year, so losing a controller would throw everything off. Hopefully it could be a quick fix.
clenaghen
Ok, more weirdness. I can get it to work in the LOR sequencer, but still can not get it to show up in the hardware utility. So, as long as I assign the correct Unit ID and channels in the sequencer, it will work, but just can not get it to show up in hardware utility. Weirdest damn thing....I guess as long as I can get it to work for my songs, then I guess I'll live with it. Little unnerving, tho. Would hate for it to completely die after I get everything set up.Down side would be that I wont be able to upgrade firmware tho.
Mtrumbull
had the same issue with a CTB16-D board, turned out to be bad processor ( took lightning hit) would control lights but would not talk back to the computer. still have a CMB16-DC doing the same thing, will send to LOR since the processor is surface mount. I can get it to work in the LOR sequencer, but still can not get it to show up in the hardware utility. One possible cause for this is a bad comm chip. It can still receive, so you can control lights, but it can't transmit so the hardware utility can't see it. LOR controllers don't normally transmit unless they're asked to, and the sequence editor doesn't ask them to.Fortunately, the comm chip is in a socket, so you can easily test this theory. Simply swap the comm chip (the 8-pin chip) with one from a known working board. As Mtrumbull said, it could also be a problem with the processor that is causing the transmit failure. Guest wbottomley
I'm in full belief that mine are the rotary dials. It will not work with 2C. So, I went up to 36. It showed up as 32. Even though the dials set the address, I reassigned it to 2C. As long as the power does not flicker, it will work fine. If power goes out, I'll have to reset the address.Crazy sucker.
