My First Halloween show

Good use of 16 channels! My first display in 2010 was going to be only 16 channels, but then I needed 32, then I need 48, then 64 and finally, ended up at 80 channels for my first display. Just kept having new items for my Halloween display arriving and as they arrived I kept having to add them in, which meant more channels, some more come in, add even more channels. LOL

So I've settled on 80, but I really need almost twice that now(160) with all the decor I have, that I'm NOT using in my display this year, being in an apartment, and having limited area to decorate.

Only about 1/4 of my stuff is out this year that's normally out, another 1/4 went to a friends house I decorated for a Samhain celebration and the other 1/2 is still in storage totes and in my storage unit.

Christmas is definitely going to also present another challenge as to pick and choose what I want to put out this year. Not having that large yard sure puts a very small damper, but not much of one, on setting up a display.

Again, very nice use for only having 16 channels. Looked really great.

Thank You Orville, My god 80 channels I think I would have a nervous break down. I think in 3 yrs I may get to that May. I received another controller from the scholarship fund that Bobo had. I was the lucky winner. I am really trying hard to sequence the songs I had already done with 16 channels and add the other controller to them.

I don't want to disappoint anyone that was involved in the scholarship program. But it is getting really difficult to do plus I have to purchase more extension cords. If I can't get it done this yr I will be ready for next yr. But I am not going to give up until it is time to start. I wish you best of luck on your display this yr. I can't wait to see your display. Hope you post it on here.

Very nice. Was the face made on just chicken wire or some other screen material?

Thanks, Yes it was made from tent poles and chicken wire. I weaved the chicken wire like you would a basket. I think it turned out OK for a rookie LOL

Yea it turned out very good. I actually think it looks better then some of what Disney/Osbourne did the first year his lights went to MGM Studios.

Actually it was EASIER to do more channels than the lesser amount! Because now I could spread out my display and use a channel for each element instead of trying to put 2,3 or more elements on one channel. Once you get the hang of it, it's comes easy. But the first times through, yes, they can be intimidating to a person that hasn't done it before. You'll get it, just takes a little time and persavearance(sp?), but you're off to a really good start. My suggestion would be to look at others sequences, even if they are 48,64, 80 or more channels and try and copy and paste them into some of your elements, that's what I did, then I'd go back and make changes where I wanted things to be different.

Here's where you can download my sequences from (48 and 80 channel):

https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=7d6d47dfa1c635ae&Bsrc=EMSHGM&Bpub=SN.Notifications&id=7D6D47DFA1C635AE%211240

And here's where my current display videos for this year (2011) can be seen on Vimeo:

http://vimeo.com/groups/109696

I took my 2010 sequences offline because they were just awful, not so much the video, but the sequencing wasn't that good, plus the audio was horrendous due to airplane and other noises that I didn't edit out from the first year videos.

Was going to re-edit them with a better audio track and re-upload them, but lost them when Windows XP decided to mess up my secondary hard drive where I had everything. I was just about to burn them to a data CD when Windows decided to scramble the drive. Just lucky my sequences and audio files were saved prior to that disaster!

Orville,
Very very nice display. How did you do your small arches and what are they made out of. Looks like next yr I am really going to have to put some thought into my display instead of just throwing up a couple of lights and call it done. Again very nice display I can't wait to see your Christmas Display. Have you started putting it up yet?

Thanks Spindler.

Those arches are "Baby Sidewalk Arches" from HolidayCoro, I forget which model I purchased at the moment, but they use 3 sets of 100 count Orange Incandescent lights, each arch being 3 channels, although you could use 6 50 count lights and 6 channels per arch, I just like the 3 channel set up myself.

They're made out of Coro and are pre-drilled with all the holes for you. I actually want to try and change them over to LED eventually.

You can find them at http://www.holidaycoro.com and David Moore who creates them is also a user here on the forums. He makes great stuff. Hoping I can purchase some of his coro faces and tombstones for my 2012 Halloween display and possibly some of his Christmas Coro items as well, that is when I can get things all sorted out around here.

EDIT: Hmm, just went to check so I could give you a direct link to the Baby Sidewalk Coro Arches, but it seems I don't see them on the site any longer. So I don't know if they are still available for purchase now or not. If you're interested in them, you may want to contact David from the contact option on the HolidayCoro website to see if he can still produce them.

Thanks Orville,
I am very interested in them. I will give him a call. Thanks for your help.
