dharker
Hey, I'm adding arches and have them built but looking for help on 2 items. My Arch config is below.First I believe I read way back dance of the sugar plum fairies was a great song for archs. If any one has the sequence they can share as a base i'd appreciate it- Of couse I'd like one with arches Second, I used some kind of black water pipe or something from HD as the sleeve and it only accepted 1/2 sched 40 PVC. Using Rebar sticking up about 10" on each end to slide the PVC over. It all spaced nice and looks great but when its up it looks like it can sway and probably fall. I don't recall anyone talking about quy wire- do you use like 1/8" or thin rope or something just to keep it from falling or did I miss something or do something wrong ?I have 5 arches total each using the sleeve methond. 10" PVC and there are 5 sleeves or sections. Each Arch is either wrapped in White and Red (100ct each M6 LEDs) or White and Green. Arch 1 has a total of 6 channels 5 for White and 1 for Green. Arch 2 has 6 channels 5 for white and 1 for Red. I did this to conserve channels and still have some colors. Of course I can't chase the red and green within an arch but can chase arches or chase white and even chase white over red and green which looks neat with the red or green at say 50% intensity....THANKS ! RaceMedic
I had 100ct sleeves .. 6 per arch ... my arches drooped forward ... I simply got a tent peg and used twine from behind to hold it vertical.I also used 1" black piping for the sleeves and 3/4" for the sleeves to go on to.Dave
lleibeck
I have five 20 foot arches that are about 4 feet tall at the center. The first year I used twine and tent anchors. Did not work well for me. Probably due to Florida sand not too good at holding the anchors. Now I use a piece of 3/4 inch PVC pipe pounded into the ground right against the highest part of the arch. Then I use two zip ties to hold it.These allows for a slight sway in the high winds. I painted the pipe black, you don't see it at night. One more advantage of using pipe over wire/twine is you don't have to worry about anyone including you tripping over the wire in the dark. Try as you might, some one or something is going to go through your display at night. Trip hard enough, you could pull something downLeePs, I also use this concept to anchor wire frames too. Dennis Cherry
I use 2 stakes one 3 foot in n front and back of the arch, centered with the top of the arch.Use parachute cord black and attach one end to a stake then to the top of the arch, make only one wrap then down to the other stake.Take up the slack, then all you have to do is adjust the arch for vertical by pushing down on the top of the arch and move the top position to vertical and release. It will not move in high winds, the purpose is to prevent the top of the arch from moving, if it doesn't move then it cannot destruct in the wind.Very simple and elegant has worked the past 3 years in my display. dharker
Thanks both of you- I think I'll use the cord since there is a lot behind the arches and I think the 3/4 PVC may not be the best for my situation.Nobody has A sugar Plum Fairies .LMS they are willing to share ? ?
