heystew
I think i will have to control this outside of LOR, but use an LOR channel to activate the process. But i wanted to see if anyone has any ideas on how to approach. Where i am struggling is coming up with the "randomizer" could be. I could use AC power straight to the fixture, or a switch closure. either would work.Theory of operation:- Assume show is 6 songs long.- During the middle 4 songs i want to have random fixtures turn on throughout the display.- time on would be ~20 seconds.. time between events would be 1 min or so.. all flexible- these fixtures would not be used in the show other than for these random events.Thoughts:- I am thinking i'll have to use LOR to turn on a circuit which activates the "randomizer"- The "randomizer" would have AC or control lines running to these fixtures through-out the yard.note: the desire for randomization is so that everytime you see the show, it's slightly different.thanks, dave
The Pest
Using the Lor to turn on the Channel that the randomizer is connected to that then powers the different lights you wish sounds like it would very good. Just remember that you are limited to 8 amp's on the channel so you have to factor in the fixture amp's as well as the amp usage for the randomizer.I have't tried this but with my knowledge of electrical it should work fine. As long as amp's don't go over 8. on channel, plus remember limit to 15 amp's on that side of the LOR.
khawes
How about a very long background sequence that "randomly" turns on those elements? By making the sequence n times the length of your total show you can have no events during the 1 & 6th song. During the middle 4 turn on the random fixtures.Of course it will not be truly random, because you have programmed the order. However the longer you make the background sequence, the more it will look random to the causal observer.

This way, each track loops at its own rate, so they become out of sync with each other, and with the musical sequences. Put each item in its own track, each one a different length, put them in the animation tab of a show. Then, as long as the show runs all evening, the timings will be different each run through. heystew
Thanks for the ideas. I will look into this as well as some other options ive come up with. Will post what i end up doingThanksDave
