PC requirements

I have a PC that runs S3 fine, it is a quad core 12gb machine, never had any problems. But I decided to set-up an old PC in the garage that I knew might be inadequate, runs XP, 256 mb ram to see if it ran, it did, but as I added controllers onto the set-up (4 total) the lights on one controller would shut off (blinking red light in controller) Before I spend money on memory and/or a new pc, which I will eventually do, maybe a no frills from tigerdirect.com or something to run the show in the garage, looking to see if that is the issue.

Meantime I will go back to my higher end pc in another room.

Thanks in advance, think I know the answer just need confirmation!

Look on ebay for at least two 512mb ram modules.. probably PC3200.. (look what's in there now) I have several LOW end pc's I've built with parts to send off to family for email, etc.. XP, with SP3 and a min of 1ghz cpu and 1GB of memory will run S2 well..

As for one controller's lights going out.. that now sounds like a real lack of memory .. did they work ok with two or three controllers?

A barebones box.. will be a dual or quad core.. prob $279 plus shipping..
A renew of the xp box would prob be $100-$150 for memory and a new power supply.. if its a bunch of yrs old, if you put some real work on it, it'll prob fail..

With 2 controllers works well, thanks, you just confirmed my suspicions, I just wanted to ensure I wasn't having a controller problem since I have been using the higher end with no issues. I will use my higher end PC until after Halloween and pick up some memory for the lower end for the christmas show. I imagine the servodog controller doesn't help much either! LOL

As always much appreciated TJ :-)

No worries Ken.. I have several AMD and Intel mobos, a couple 1ghz cpus and a bunch of 256mb, 512mb and 1gb DRAM sticks.. let me know what that one uses and I will see if I have any larger ones I can send you.. several 80gb drives too..
