There is a mounting plate ten ft up from the ground with 16 s hooks to mount the male and female ends of the plugs. Need to figure out how to make the bottom. Can make the triangle from the hooks down, but how to turn at the bottom to have the flat to the box on the bottom...etc Attached files
beeiilll
Easiest way I can see would be to make 3 rings of something like 1/2" PVC pipe or maybe even smaller diameter to get the rings small enough for what you want. One would be a larger ring for the "triangle" where the strings come from the top down and then two rings would be the same size for the bottom where the strings come in from the outside and then drop down to the bottom ring. Then across, back up, out, and back to the top.Does that make sense to you?Bill
Dave Boros
Yeah, thats pretty much what I thought. Would i have to "mount" them to the ground like the big outer ring, or do you think i could let them "float"?
imawlkr2
Is this the shape you are wanting? My tree is 10 ft tall with the base of the tree about 18" tall. The bottom hoop is 5' in diameter. Attached files
imawlkr2
here is what the base looks like. Got the idea from here:http://www.christmaslightshow.com/do-it-your-self-build-a-20-foot-mega-Christmas-tree-base.htmlWith some help from other folks on here that posted pictures of their bases.I do not have the two smaller rings in this picture that make the "trunk" but you can see the snap-tees that they go into. Dave Boros
Thats basically what I want, just might have to wait on that till next year, because I already have the outer tree done. Im gonna have to do the three ring, but I like those plans.

That is probably why the other designs have a lower outer ring too. But could probably tie it down with stakes to accomplish the same thing--maybe 6 tie-downs evenly spaced around the ring. Probably would help to stabilize it since it might want to be "tipsy" (even with the base in the ground).
Jeff Messer
This year I stepped up and installed a base for our tower. Center of my star is 30 feet and base of lights is 96 feet around. I used small rebar at each set and zip tie them to it. with 48,000 lights and 4 lor controllers it should be a nice show. Here is a picture of it.thanks,Jeff Attached files

I wish I could make my tree that big, but the base is bigger than my yard...haha. Good luck. I need to spend some serious time on my sequencing.
