Tom Clapper
I purchased some rope light from Ace Hardware after chrismas last year. It is Incandesant rope light not led and I am making frames for my windows. My question is that the package says do not attempt to cut the rope light. Is that just a generic warning as I thought that was the benefit of buying incan rope light so that it is easier to cut to length. I was hoping to cut it as close to length as possible and then cover the extra with electrical tape. If it can be cut where do I have to cut it? Thanks, Tom
DownTown
With the rope light that I've worked with, there are black marks every 18 inches on the tubing. These marks are the places that you can cut the rope light.D.T.
WhitePlainsNY
Cut between the jumpers that you should see every 18 inches or so. Attached files
-klb-
The distance between cut points can really vary with the batch of rope light. I've seen 18 inch, and we have been installing 20 inch cut length on a bunch of snowflakes. I'm pretty sure I've also seen 36 inch cut length in incandescent, as well as LED.
