500W worklight fade/flash?

Perhaps two years ago, I remember a video with someone using these 500W worklights to slowly flash like a super-bright strobe. I think they flashed once every few seconds if I remember, not really strobing I guess. I bought some to use in my display this year - just wondering if anyone has experience with these - can they be faded? How fast can they be flashed without risking damage to bulb?

thanks for any thoughts!

Those halogen lights will dim successfully. The best solution to trying to flash them, is not to let them turn off completely. If you choose a minimum setting that allows the element to glow, but not to the extent that it affects your display, you should be able to flash them on and off. This is a trick used when flashing "stage lamps", to keep the lamp element warm. It is the thermal shock from cold to hot that finishes them off quickly.

Regards,

Alan.

I used 500w stage lights several years ago for a display I did at work. They are slower to come on and go off so you might need to adjust your sequences a little. And the shimmer effect was almost null. I didn't use halogens but the results may be fairly same. They did fade nicely though. :D
