Brian Mitchell
My local Lowes just announce that they will be closing the store in 30 days. It has only been open for 18 months. I don't think that was enough time to give it a fair chance even though it is only 200 yards down the street from the Home Depot.Anyway, I was sure since they were going to close that they wouldn't have any Christmas in. I went in there yesterday and they have a full Christmas setup and they are going to want to move it by Nov. 13. I predict some good deals in my future.Right now it's just 10% off storewide but I know it will get a lot better soon.

LORi P
Lowes is closing 20 underperforming stores nationwide.... You can find the list below. I was in Maine last week, when 2 closings were announced there. NewEngland seems to be particularly hard hit, 3 in NH, 2 in ME, 1 in MA, and 1 in RI.So check the list to see if there is one near you:http://www.csmonitor.com/Business/Latest-News-Wires/2011/1017/Lowe-s-closing-stores-Is-yours-on-the-list
Brian Mitchell
I mostly feel bad for the employees. At least the ones here got a 30 day notice and a severance package. The store that closed in Manchester had a meeting Sunday to tell the employees and closed the store immediately. Talk about getting blindsided. Brian Mitchell
Well, our Lowes is no more. It went to 50% off for the last week. Almost all the Christmas went away in the first two days, I was in there the third day and it was pretty barren. I got a couple things at 35% and only got an extender pole at 50%. I did get a few things for projects around the house however. That store was E M P T Y by the end.
Guest guest
Guess us Floridians love our Lowes too, didn't see any closing in Florida either, and we have a few right in my area that are also very close to Home Depot. Which my wife and I were looking at appliances the other day at both, we'll be going with HD for them, Lowes prices were almost 2 to 3 times the price and they didn't even have some of the nicer ones that HD had! Also looked at their Christmas decor, which they moved to a different location this year. Used to be right inside near the front entrance and through the front garden center doors, this year they put it about center of the store on the right side of the garden center wall.I guess this just made it more noticeable coming in from the main entrance, instead of being off to the right of it, but since I always enter and exit throgh the garden center, at first I thought they weren't doing Christmas this year since it wasn't right there in front of me as I entered the store from the GC! Took me a couple minutes to figure out where the decorations were.
