Jim Hans
I run Cat 5 on the ground to all 9 of my controllers and have not had a problem. I do try to keep the Cat 5 away from extension cords as I am afraid that I may get electrical interference (although I'm not sure if this fear is grounded in fact.. excuse the pun) One thing I do is I secure the Cat 5 to the base of the structure that is holding the controller so that if I trip over the cord (which I have done) I don't pull it out of the controller causing damage. JBullard
I try to route most of my Cat 5 behind shrubbry. The few places where it might get stepped on, I slide some gray 3/4 inch pvc over the cable.

This year the wires will be wire tied down to the wood.

This has been discussed many times and it has cured several peoples problems in the past.To Kevin Doucet, is your comm cable (Cat5) running in a bundle with the AC power wires?
