Working on a display for next year halloween. Just starting with LOR. 16 channels, 6 will be driving 12v pop up ghosts. The rest will be for lights and hopfully video. This is where I need help.

I have been all over forum and cant find answer. So I will describe best I can.

6 channels will be running 12v solenoids for pop up ghosts. Next I need to know what and how to sync a video with audio track. This will be projected on 3 pumpkins that sing. A 3D projection from a led projector. Can some one explain what I need to 1st sync video to audio. Then how do I hook the projector to controller to start the video projection. And then put that into LOR along with my light show and pop up ghosts?

I hope I explaind this right.

How are you planning on running the audio? Mini director? And if I'm getting this, you're asking how to power your projector through the controller? If so, you need to know how many amps your projector takes to run it. If its higher than 8 amps, you can't run it through the controller. Max output on one channel is 8, max per bank (ch 1-8 is one bank and 9-16 the other) is 15 amp. (That's for the pc controller). As far as av, you need to split the audio from the video. I use windows movie maker to make slideshow and videos, you import your video, and at the bottom where your video stream is at, you can "split" the audio and video from each other. Then delete the video portion, and publish to the desktop. There you have your sound in a wma file. Just convert that to mp3. As far as getting all that in sync, you have to work out the timing in your sequencing and the "power up" & play time of your projector. Thats if your projector isn't drawing too many amps.

Just curious how things are going? Did you get something figured out? I saw something in another post about some other hardware and software tbat might help you with the video aspect. I'll see if I can attach a link or something.

Below is the comment and link from the other thread.

Yes, it can be done, by using trigger inputs.

However, in my opinion, it will be a "kludged" together solution, as "home automation control" is not what the LOR controllers were designed for.

In my opinion, I would suggest using home automation designed software and hardware, which for your application would be one of simplest tasks for it to perform, plus open up many more applications around your home.

I use software by Homeseer with the Ocelot controller and can do what you require as well as many, many more things, including video and whole house control from my smart phone.

You are quoting my answer from another thread, to a different question that has nothing to do with using solenoids or projectors or video sync with audio tracks
Anyone that may see this on the future should totally disregard

John,
Thanks for correcting me on that. I saw video and thought it might help with his projector powering. I appreciate the clarification on that.

@Dave,
Thanks for all the information. I have been looking into having LOR trigger a Boo Box controller for halloween props. I can get them to power both AC/DC like LOR but easier to program. The only draw back is the length of animation I can have with it. But I am still working on a solution. Will keep everyone posted. Thanks again
