Guest guest
I got a Belkin and did the antenna mod. Now, I have the long piece of wire running out of it and I taped the antenna to the house. I get about 100-150 feet, which isn't great, but I don't need a whole lot more because of the are that the house is in. My question is, how do others run their antenna's to get such great reception? Can I put the antenna to the gutters or will that make the gutters an antenna and possily mess it up more? I don't know much about antenna's so hopefully someone can give me a little help here and I know some of you use the Belkin mod and some use a ramsey. It would just be nice to get a little more distance then I am getting.
Guest guest
How long is the wire? For best results, it needs to be a certain length - close to the 1/4 or 1/2 wavelength for your frequency. That's anywhere from about 52-65" for the 1/2 wavelength on most FM stations. Try this site to find out how long your antenna should be: http://www.crompton.com/wa3dsp/hamradio/antcalc.html
Guest guest
It says that half wavelengh is 56.55 etc, so we made it 113 to be a full wavelength. As far as I know it should be just fine, unless I'm missing somethingThanks againRob
Guest guest
Well I know one thing for a fact. That question has never been answered in the LOR thread. Maybe the thread that actually talks about radios.
