Guest wbottomley
What classifies a person to be a "Light-O-Rama Veteran?"

Oh, seriously though, I don't think it's how many years...It's more of an all in kind of guy/gal...Definitely not me!
George Simmons
I'm confused too... does two years mean you've completed two show seasons and you are currently in your third year or would that be three years then? Do you think we should get stripes for our sleeves?

Do you think we should get stripes for our sleeves?Perhaps a patch we could wear. Now who could design the logo?I think a veteran is one who is helping others with their display more than asking for help from others. And thank you for your service to our country.P.S. - William, your avatar is freaking me out.
-klb-
It could be worse.. He could be posting links of alleged show video that actually turn out to be annoying orange videos... I'd take being Rick Rolled over that any day..
Guest guest
Depends on if you are suggesting veteran = quality/expertise.I agree with John B...just number of years doing displays doesn't capture it. Years spent doing displays don't necessarily mean quality and expertise. When you consider all the different pieces of the hobby, and the different expertises (hardware, sequencing, designing props, etc), to me, "veteran" is simply a time thing, and means nothing...and when I go looking for advice on the board..some is from those we may view as "veterans" (won't name names as I know I'll forget someone and offend..), but also, there is a lot of incredible knowledge out of those who might be considered "newbies".The term is too ambiguous to mean anything, IMHO.So as not to seem like I am avoiding the question, if we consider purely time, as in William's poll, i'd vote 2 show seasons...meaning, after your second show season (ok, so now lets debate halloween, or Christmas, or both, does size of show mean anything, etc...), you're now a "veteran"... Jim Saul
I'm saying 3 years but agree, time alone does nothing. On another forum that I am on, you can give kudos for a helpful or correct answer, that helps but with you guys…. I can easily see the kudos flying off the shelves for the funniest posts vs. the helpful ones, so I don’t think that would work here.I can tell you when I started here, things that made one person’s answer have more weight than another’s was are they a beta testers? How many posts have they done? How long they have been here? Now of course I know better – you are all just making it up as you go

miaskiewicz christian
If you're still now sequencing by blowing out candles you can be considered as a veteran. lol
