Glock330
We are making our first purchase. We have a big Halloween Display and want to add a little punch. There are two packages on Wowlights but not sure if they are worth the price. Should we purchase the upgrade instead or would this package be good to start with at the moment? Also can we take this package and adapt it to fit out Christmas Lights or would be have to start all over again? Little confused but want to place an order today if possible. Any chance there are any promotional codes ever offered? Don
For those who don't know, the WowLights packages come with other decor, such as pumpkin and tombstone kits.See an example here:http://wowlights.com/ProductDetail.asp?Category=19&Product=
Glock330
Thanks Don, Still not sure though which package would be the better option even with the added light features. Right now we are newbies but as we learn more would be benefit from spending the extra money now or later? Not trying to break the bank but don't want to regret my initial purchase down the line either. Also can you use this package at Christmas time with the led lights we already have? Just not sure how it all works just yet.
Don
When it comes to adding a 'punch' to your Halloween setup, this would certainly do the trick. It appears to have everything you would need to get up an running right away.If you were to purchase everything separately, and then program the songs, it would take much more time. (I'm not going to stop and do the math for the cost in dollars.)You would be able to use the controllers at Christmas (or any other time of the year). When it comes to adapting it for other times of the year, though, keep in mind (the obvious) that Halloween decor on a Christmas display isn't exactly what most people would do. You would need to hook up to Christmas decor, and come up with programming to go with it (Jingle Bells, etc.).I would make sure that WowLights has the controllers in stock and can ship right away. I would imagine they do, as they are still advertising them (and are a reputable LOR Partner.) However, with the supply issues this year (http://www.lightorama.com/pdu) it's worth asking. As for regretting your purchase - Learning the sequencing software is not, for most people, something that's done in a week. It takes time to learn the software. One might become frustrated with the entire project because they feel as if they can't program the lights to the music. Just remember, we are each our own worst critic. Two things I would check into:The description doesn't say what level of software you get (see: http://www.lightorama.com/ShowtimeSoftwareSuite.html) nor which controller they ship. (Residential or Commercial as defined at http://www.lightorama.com/Controllers.html) Either controller type will work for the house, and you can always upgrade the software to a higher version if needed.* Disclaimer: Just in case it's needed: I don't work for, nor represent, WowLights. Opinions are my own and not those of WowLights or Light-O-Rama.
Glock330
thanks so much! Also have to purchase a fm transmitter and speakers. So excited and hoping it all works out I am pretty good with computers but as you said this is all new to us both.
Glock330
Do you suggest a wireless linker or a Cat5 wire to laptop?
Don
Personally, I prefer CAT5 to the display. However, the ELL's (Easy Light Linkers as they are called) perform very well. Many here have used them with no problems.

Glock330
All done with that thanks so much OK going to bite the bullet. Bought everything but the fm transmitter and the outdoor speakers. Will look locally for that here. Have to try and see if I can add more than 5 songs to the look too or I think my neighbors may hunt me down after the first few nights, lol!
