CCR Cabinet Displays

In the video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5dtHVxJgAo

I used 1 CCR, cut it into 7 sections so each cabinet has 21 RGB LED diodes.

the pixel count is set to50, so 7 x 7 = 49... so I did not need the last pixel and so cut it off. that's right this strip only has 147 diodes...

future problem I will need help with.....

35 cabnets over all...the owner was sooooo impressed now that he sees I can "make his displays dance" so to say, that he's wanting to put 1 complete CCR into each of these cabinets.....and havethem act like the ones in the video but on a grander scale....any assistance of feedback would be most appreciated.

If only it was that simple....lol
the gentleman I'm doing this for would like 1 CCR in each cabinet which can not only work in a show... but also, motion sensors to be placed on each cabinet so that after the show if you were to walk up to the cabinet the light would come on and have a narration about the contents.
My cup runneth over argh

Youi might want to consider a 3 foot rgb strip in each machine for $10/machine and drive them with a LOR DC controller. Sample of led strip:http://www.ebay.com/itm/1M-60-LED-Light-Flexible-Strip-5050-RGB-Color-Changing-Christmas-Decoration-/300608181393?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45fda4d491

I connect each strip to 3 channels of the DC controler using ordinary 4 conductor cable for trailer lights ($10 for 25 feet).

Might make your job much simpler.

Sorry guys for a rookie question, but we're putting together our first display and I'm really trying to make targeted purchases right the first time.   I'm a little perplexed in the hundreds of products I've looked through in knowing how to determine which are pixel addressable, aka smart, RGB strips and nodes, and which ones arent. I think I want to start right out of the gate with addressable strips.  I understand IP68 specs now from all the horror stories, and I think I'm looking for SMD5050 standard.  Any suggestions?      Why does the trademarked product "CCR" cost so much in relation to all the other strips out there?

The CCR is plug and play and comes with the controller.  Just plug it inline with your other LOR boxes (if you have any) and sequence away.  Other units are Do It Yourself and have a much higher (from what I am told) learning curve to get them operational.  They are NOT plug and play.  You will need an additional controller board, Power Supply and enclosure as well as connectors, etc.

Once you have everything connected and operational, I believe the sequencing side is pretty much the same.

Maybe I should hold off for a while then.   Zero experience, and a fixed soldier's budget.   :)     Thanks for the heads up and clarification.

Why is the CCR expensive.  Its about customer service, integration of the hardware and software, and warranty.  You dont get those things with DIY like some of us are doing.  Do look at some of the displays and see how we did it and assume its better.  Better is relative to who sees it.  I see the CCR as better than DIY becuase if its broke they will fix it, the software already knows how to use it, the hardware wizard can find problems with it.   Are they expensive, I agree they are.  Do they work and if they dont can you call someone at LOR and get it fixed, yes you can.  If something in my DIY display breaks, all I can call is the othe DIY guys to make fun of me.  If your only adding a few small elements with RBG that a CCR will do, then stay with that. If you have questions we are here.

You make a lot of sense.   I really like what I read about LOR's stand-up approach to customer service.   How long do the warranties cover the hardware?   What is the lifespan of a CCR?
