Tom Clapper
I am going to put rope light around the windows on my house. I have new aluminum clad windows but they also have a 1x4 trim board around all 4 sides. I have bought the rope light tracks to keep them nice and straight but don't really want to mount those to the house. I have thought about making a frame out of 1x2 and mounting the rope light tracks on them, then figureing out a way to mount them to the 1x4 but just wondered how anyone else has done them. Thanks for any info.

Randy Martin
I made frames out of 1/2" X 1/2" maple wood. the 2 verticle ones are the same length as the window frames (slightly shorter to fit in easy) and the 2 horizontal ones were about an 1 1/2" shorter then the window frame. then carved down to semi round one end of each horizontal rail to allow a approx. 3" long spring to fit over it. then mounted with a machine screw bolt in each corner of the vertical rail 1 1/2" in from the end and the spring bottoms out on it. (mount all the rails 1 1/2" in from the ends #) plastic tied the lights on them. this way all I had to do was compress the spring a little and slide in the frame as it pushed it against the other side of the window frame. I added more vericals to support the weight on longer wider windows as I did each window with three colours.
