Mike Manzara
To all the US vendors. When shipping to Canada please ofer service by USPS as the unscrupulous couriers like UPS, DHL and others charge an exorbitant fee for customs clearance. An $80.00 US order can cost $80.00 for customs clearance. It defeats any savings when you find a good deal. Most parcels sent to Canada from the US via USPS clear customs for free. ace_master
Couldn't agree more. UPS has to be one of the worst companies to make their way onto Canadian soil. I have been charged nearly twice what I paid for a product, just to be able to accept it on delivery. Was tempting to refuse the package and cut my loss... but I needed it.(I'm quite worried as I write this... as I had something shipped from China via DHL, but the seller switched to UPS at the last minute without telling me (I didn't even know they had UPS stores in china?!). Now I'm scared for anyone to answer the door tomorrow on the scheduled delivery day, as it was a high value order.)Anyways, the moral of the story here is:From USA to Canada... USPS Priority International is the only way to go guys.
stanward
Wow, that is overly demanding. Instead, you both should kindly ask for the US vendors to see if shipping via US Postal Service is an option.Of course, I am in Hawaii and would also want to have that option too. But I ran into many vendors (not just Xmas light stuff) that will not ship via USPS, even after I kindly ask them to see if it is an option. UPS bought out DHL like 2 or 3 years ago.
ace_master
I wouldn't really say its that demanding if it's going to save a customer from paying $150 in fees on a $200 item. That's like having a 75% tax rate!David Rise wrote: You know that UPS and DHL are the same company, right? UPS bought out DHL like 2 or 3 years ago.Wasn't aware... All I knew was that virtually everyone I came across said DHL was the best way to go from China if you didn't want to get raped, and have to wait a month for your stuff to arrive. David Rise
I think DHL still has a presence in Europe/Asia.Not exactly sure of the details, just know that UPS handles the DHL deliveries in North America
