Marty Spain
Hi Everyone,I just received my first ServoDog controller and need someone who has hooked these controllers up to a power supply. I am wary of this ground hook up and not seeing anywhere to hook up the negative DC output of the power supply. Are they using ground and negative out to mean the same thing? V+ okay, G - Neg PS output? Also did you hook up V+ to S1 & S2 and leave the jumpers on? Since I work with AC and DC ground can mean entirely to seperate things depending on type od current you are using. Ground in AC could mean chasis or earth ground. DC would be negative and required to create the potential difference on the supply.Marty
machtoo
I own a good number of the SD boards. If you are using a standard DC supply, the postive goes to V+ and the negative side to G or ground on the power header. If you do nothing else the servos will draw power from the same supply. The board has an option if change a jumper to use a second separate supply for the servos. As long as your main supply has the current/power capability needed for the number of servos you are connecting, you will be fine with one power supply. The other two connections on the header can be used for channels 4 and 5 for dimming (like leds in skull eyes) if you set them for PWM dimming using the Servo Dog Utility. Page 8 in the SD manual provides some guidance for the various power options.
