Adding my configuration file

I wish to add my configuration file for my home to someone else's existing sequence so that it is easier to cut and paste their sequencing to similar areas of my configuration. When I try to 'import' my configuration file into an existing sequence, it seems to wipe out their configuration and only add mine to the sequence.

This is not what I want. Because their configuration is wiped out it becomes impossible to cut and paste sections of their old sequence into my new configuration. As a newbie, I'm just not getting the exact sequence on how to do this.

Also, how EXACTLY does the 'visualizer' of MY home get transfered to the new sequence of 'MY' configuration. Is somehow the visualizer embedded into my configuration file?? Not sure how this is all working. --Thanks --Greg--

The 'import configuration' is not a 'merge configuration' command. It will import that LCC file and over write what is there. You will want to open the two sequences and copy/paste between the two.

Also, your animation window (the Visualizer is a separate program in the S3 software) is embedded with your sequence. When you export/import your configuration, your animation window is exported/imported as well.

You do not need to import a configuration to cut and paste between sequences. Just open both and copy from one and paste to the other. You may find it helpful to copy the timing marks too. In SE menu use EDIT/Copy timing marks to transfer them. In the target select Paste timing of course.


The usual reason to import a config file is to wipe the channel settings because you have made changes to your channel or animation which you want to use in your other sequences.
Yes the animation is part of the exported config file. When you do an import, It will completely replace the animation which was there before.

There are other ways to convert a sequence into one usable in your display too. I will explain for you if the above does not solve your problem. If you want to tell us how many channels the two sequences have it might be helpful to select a solution.

You could add your number of channels "above" the existing channels, then import your config file, that will put your config in the empty new channels, while keeping the other persons channels below so you can copy and paste all you want.

This seems like what I am trying to do but I can't seem to find out how to 'add' channels to an existing sequence while I am in the sequence editor. What menu or command is used to 'add' blank channels to an existing sequence? Sorry, just can't seem to do this?? Thanks for any help. --Greg--

Right click on the channel name. It will give you several options to add single or multiple channels above or below where you click.

If you are able to get the number of channels and their positions the same as your exported config, then it will work out perfectly when you import it.

And when you select Add Channel(s), you'll get a window that asks how many channels you want to add and what the Unit # is.. you can add 16, 32, 48, 64.. how ever many channels you have, then select the Unit # to start with..
