I am trying to figure out what is the best music to use for my LOR shows? How should the music be stored? Like file type or how to save it? thanks

Amazon, iTunes, CD, or any other form.

Store the music just like you would any other file on a pc (PC 101).

I get most of my songs from I-tunes, I think amazon also sells songs as well. as far as storing them I put all my lor segeunces and songs in a seperate files and rename it. I also backup that file a sd card and cd rom and my laptop. backing up is very important

btw I made all my songs mp3 so mp4 is not campatible,also I made sure that the songs were a constant rate and not varible. you can download a program to convert mp4 to mp3 format. lots of folks use audacity

thanks alot i know how to save it on a computer just asking if the file type mattered. Sorry if i sounded like a idiot, but maybe i am.. thanks again

No your not.

When sequencing, use a wav file. When you're finished, it can be changed to a mp3. Those are the only two audio files it will work with.

I agree 100%. Use wav files. So much easier to use for sequencing.

However several different file types are supported by LOR:

The following audio file types are supported by LOR:

aif, aifc, aiff, mid, midi, mi, mp2, mp3, mpa, au, snd, wav, wma.

Video files supported are:

avi, mpe, mpeg, mpg, miv, asf, wm, wmv

Well $hit John. Maybe I need to read a little more. :P

You are OK buddy. lol

Unfortunately most people on here don't even use the superior wav format while sequencing, much less any of the others.

They seem to think that there is "some law" that requires only MP3 to be used.

Oh, I love the Mini Director. (have 3)

But I sequence everything using wav files, then convert to MP3 for loading on the mini director.

When I use the computer for a show, I leave everything in the wav format.

I certainly didn't mean to imply that the MP3 player was not a good product...

but just the name may lead some to believe they need to use an MP3... :P

Actually if they are going to use the Mini director or the showtime director they DO have to use MP3 files.:P

If you use MP3's to do your programming you may find a VBR mp3 you need to correct. Otherwise if you are programming with .wav files you may not find the VBR mp3 problem until your show is actually loaded onto the mini director or showtime director and running live. OR do these two pieces of equipment not have a problem with VBR MP3s?

Having to program with .wav files and having to run the show with mp3 files could get very confusing for some. I would imaging at some point a .wav file could get loaded on the mini, or showtime director and then they would be wondering why it will not play that sequence.

If you make sure ALL your mp3's are CBR you should be able to program and run your show with them just fine.

Ive never had a problem with a CBR MP3 files. However if the mini director and showtime director could run .wav files I would just as soon use all .wav files.:) Then there are no worries about CBR/VBR.:cool:

CBR=Constant Bit Rate

VBR=Variable Bit Rate

This may be a dumb question..... What makes .wav easier to use for sequencing?

MP3's, if not a constant bit rate, tend to get out of sync with your sequence, especially when starting and stopping within the sequence...

.wav files will not get out of sync..hence maybe not making sequencing easier, but certainly less frustrating...

I find it easier to slow a wav file down to 1/4 speed then an MP3 file since it has much less compression, therefore, for me, making it easier to sequence
