jbitzer
Hi everyone. I found something that I wanted to share and not sure if it has been mentioned before but it’s worth mentioning again. When it comes to drawing, plotting out a design or anything beyond a basic stick figure I am “pencil challenged”. I have been using the free sketchup tool from Google for occasional drawings but found a new Christmas decorating use for it. I was able to draw a minitree which shows the light segments and supports and so forth. Where I found this tool was extremely useful was in a few areas:· I was able to view the drawing from any angle· There is a tape measure tool where I can measure the distance from any point to any other (so I could measure the distance between light strings, or support stakes, or even between elements of my display).I have attached a screenshot of a drawing where I have added the dimensions I’m sure there are more powerful tools out there and some of you are much better artists than I am, however any tool that will let someone like me throw together a drawing in less time it took me to write this has my vote!If you want to give it a try it can be downloaded for free from http://sketchup.google.com/Jeff Attached files
Ryan Johnson
Sketch up is a great program for the price. I've used it for projects in the past as well as some occasional Christmas related stuff!

John Slade
Excellent 3D software! I made my house with the free version, built a mega tree and also imported Christmas trees from 3D warehouse. I've also used sketchup for projects around the house - gate, fence, star for mega tree. Love it!! Attached files
