Microbursts just blew thru my neighborhood in the East Valley

Started abt 6:30-ish.. cells building down by Tucson, fast moving towards Phoenix. Steady state wind in the 30mph region with gusts to 50+, then abt 8pm, wind picked up dramatically. Roaring winds cross the highway, then across into neighbors, then my yard. Picked up 60lb gas grill throwing it against the block wall 15' away. Dragged a 7' glass table across the patio. Dragged another grill (abt 30lbs) from against the house to 22' away. Twisted 3 large branches off large trees in the back yard. After the storm passed thru.. we go out to check the damage. Nieghbors are outside also... a LOT of trees are down, center branches spun right off the middle of trees along 5 houses.

Pix to be posted in the light of day. Radar showing clear skies al the way down to Yuma, so should be quiet the rest of the night.

Peeled back the fireplace cap.. lost 3 large (4"-5") branches.. airport (Falcon Field) 4 mi north reported 70mph gust.. I went up on the roof to survey the street.. saw lots of trees shredded.. several shingle roofs along a SE-NW line rolled back or shredded also.. the tops of a bunch of large trees (40'-60') had the centers spun off.. branches twisted off, not broken over. Started cutting abt 8:30a, done abt 1pm.. and the one tree in the front yarde, the one I hate as it blocks the house roof lights.. didnt even loose a leaf.. It has an appt with my chainsaw next week, I have to make room for the Black Pearl for Halloween, and the Christmas display.

Center of the tree's down.. biggest surprise was the 60lb grill, moved 15' off the patio, with no slide marks acros the grass/dirt..

..to you all NY/NJ/PA.. this is nothing compared to flooding..

Jim's got it right... anything below 79 and we dont even come out of our caves..!!

Its like people ask me how can I ride my Ninja when it's 110F out.. I just tell 'em.. Heck, with the Wind Chill, it's only 90F out! =)

Lori, we do get some winter storms in from So. Cal.. blow 30-40mph, but they're few.. one or two a year during Christmas.. mostly just drizzly rain. Now Halloween, we get wind storms from So. Cal, Santa Ana's that travel east.. I have a couple shots of wind that shredded the sails, knocked off the upper boom/masts on my Black Pearl in the yard..
