empty channel

Just wandering if all your channel are use, wandering if some of you use controller for 1 thing and then use another controller to go on the next decoration, for exemple build 2 1O' arches with 7 chn per arch, would you try and use the other 2 chn even if the controller is place with the 2 arches or would you use the other 2 chn for the next decoration and just run really long extension cause those 2 chn are out of the way?

If you have plenty of channels I would leave them open. If you have a use for them, I would use them.

I have 12 mini trees with 4 colors on each of them. I run these with 4-16 channel controllers. Each controller has 12 channels used on it. (One color per controller) This way if something happens to a controller I just lose that color on the mini trees until I can get it fixed or replaced. My mega tree is set up the same. I have 2-16 channel controllers per color for the mega tree.

I would however not hesitate to use these empty channels if I needed or wanted to add something else. Even if it ment running a long ext. cord.

I am a sucker for having spares. I have at least one spare for almost everything.

It can go either way....sometimes you want/need a spare channel just in case in the middle of the season, you have a channel go bad...

Others use every channel they have...as they don't come cheap!!! LOL

Every one will do it differently depending on thier layout and display...

Me personally...I don't like to see channels go unused...

ditto I am the same way I use every channel I have, if something does happen I can get rid of a reindeer or a penguin to make the big items still work but only if I have to

In this case, I would overlay the arches with a string of strobe lights connected to one of the "spare" channels. Then you get 2 effects with one element: a regular arch bounce and a strobe effect.

Or, overlay the arch with a different color as a local display did in this video (at 0:29):

A channel is a terrible thing to waste...

I agree. I simply HAVE to find something to fill up every channel.
