My Singing Face

RaceMedic

Recommended Posts

Just thought I would share with everyone my first draft setup of my singing face.

This version is on peg board just for the layout but will be moved to a lighter frame with chicken wire on it.

This video is short but I was just testing it out for the first time with the LOR.

Feedback or suggestions would be appreciated.
I am think that the open mouth does not turn off long enough between words ?

need a couple more channels for the mouth. I got 7 channels, 2 for the eyes and 5 for the mouth. Makes a better transition for the words.

Can I ask .... What 5 mouth positions do you have ... do you have something I can see ... I do have an extra channel not being used.

This face uses 9 channels ... 3 for the eyebrows ... 3 for the eyes / nose and 3 for the mouth.

Thanks,

Dave

Cool, Dave... You definately need more mouth shapes... say "ahhhh". What shape is your mouth? Say "OHHHH". What shape is your mouth? Say "eeee". What shape is your mouth? Say "mmmm". What shape is your mouth?

You get the idea.

D.T.

PS - Why is your face saying, "uuuuuu" in between words?? :D

The peg board won't work in wet weather .. will probably not survive 5 weeks in the environment. Going to a frame system.

Dave

P.S. Sorry about the neck strain ... I shot it from a blackberry.

I think you need to add at least one more mouth shape. Now you have the "O" sound, the "MM" sound (the top of the open mouth on only), and the full open mouth. If you add a 1/2 open mouth (lights that go through the center of the O) you can give the mouth a little more movement.

My face is simplistic, I thought of it as a filler for a blank brick wall. Turned out to be the favorite element for most of the kids that watched the show. As a filler I designed it so I could sequence it easily and quickly and it still turned out to be a huge success. I use 4 channels for the mouth, 1 channel for eye brows, and 3 channels for the eyes and nose.

So when would you use the 1/2 open mouth ?!

Thanks for all the feedback !

I agree, the pressed fiber type won't hold up in wet weather, but you can get peg board made from polyethylene, which is water proof. I used it to make my flag. I think I got it at Lowes or HD.

My bet is that just about everyone who read the post did the same thing! I know I did!

There are actually 10 mouth positions. You can see a picture of them with the sounds they are used for at this link.
Some are close so you can do great sync with 7. I think that two sizes of round O o make a big difference.
