timmy
This is not specifically LOR related. I have a project that I need help with. I was asked if I could slow a song down and burn it to disk at the slower speed. I figure it is probably possible and I didn't know any better place to ask as I know that you all mess with audio files on a very regular basis. If this is possible, would Audacity do the job.? Moderators feel free to delete this if needed. I know it has nothing to do with LOR, but I figure these guys could answer my question. Thanks to everyone in advance! Surfing4Dough
I agree, audacity will do the trick. Might want to try "Change Tempo" rather than "change speed" since it will attempt to keep the same pitch. Just highlight the portion of the song or the entire song and choose "change tempo" from the effect menu.
jimswinder
Guess it depends on what you are trying to achieve...if it is a Karaoke song, and it is too high for someone to sing and you think "slowing" it down will lowerr the key...then you should use "Change Pitch" instead... timmy
WOW! Sorry for the stupid question. I guess I really should have looked closer at the menus in Audacity. My 6 year old daughter's cheer coach asked me to slow a song down to help the girls learn the dance to it. I appreciate the replies and I apologize for not figuring this easy question out before posting.

scubado
Sometimes the stupid questions help us all learn. I learned a little about the differnces between the three; pitch, tempo and speed.
Surfing4Dough
Zero apology needed. And if you think that was a "stupid" question, then you obviously haven't read much on these forums.
timmy
I have seen some of the other questions. I was just mad at myself as I make sure to use the search feature before posting in order to keep from being bashed. I just couldn't believe I overlooked something so simple. Thanks to all that helped. I finished the project successfully last night.
