Don't know if this has been covered before, but here goes.

A great way to make TSO and other Christmas music ring tones for your cel.
On your computer, You need "audacity" (a freeware music editing software program) and you need a copy of your music.

I took TSO's “Wizards in Winter”, loaded it in audacity, cut the section I wanted,
about 30 secs, and saved to a new file,(mp3).
My phone has a usb link to my computer. Using the usb connection, I was then
able to transfer the edited file to my ringtone folder on my cel phone (a smart phone,
Motorola , Atrix).
Went into phone settings and selected my “new” TSO ringtone WizWin. Works great.

This method can be used to make any song you want, as a ringtone. No cost.

I wish it were that easy for me. I have a Motorolla phone on Verizon network. You have to use their application and pay for any ringtones. I can access the ext memory card, but have no access to the ringtone or other folders. It's my work phone and I have no say in what I get.

I don't know which model you have, but you should be able to access, ringtones etc,
through your setup on your phone. The same setup that you set volume, silent , vibrate, battery use, etc

Yes, I can access the ringtones to select one, but I can't upload a ringtone to the phone w/o using Verizon's program that will cost and can't upload what I want.

I had a similar issue with my locked down Verizon dumb phone. There are several freeware programs that can make the ringtone. Once you have it made, you just need to send it as an attachment to a text message to your phone. You basically just email it from your computer to Verizon's forwarding service. I forget the format of the email but it has your phone number in the email address. Once there, unless they've really restricted you, you should be able to save the attachment and voila, you have a new ringtone. Or at least it worked for me. I had to have my Who and not the Cindy Lou kind.

Here's a list of the major U.S. carriers. These were found on wikipedia according to the source on this site...

Now that you bring it up, I downloaded several ringtones with a Christmas flavor from iTunes for my light show. 20-35 seconds each and keeps the crowd interested. FYI
