Trigger Inputs

Hi everyone, I am hoping to get a few more controllers in the sale and also a showtime director so I no longer need the pc to run the show. I know this unit is more expensive (than the mini director) but worth it for me not having to have a separate timer... I am looking at introducing some static shows that I would like to run separately, triggered by an input, such as a snow man fight. My question is if I have some dedicated channels only for that triggered “show”, can it be setup and run at the same time as the normal show if triggered while the normal show is running? Everything I read points to yes, but without the unit to actually test, I am not quite sure. I need to start building now but probably won’t include it if they can’t run at the same time... Any advice / thoughts???
Thanks for your help, I would never have ventured into this madness if it wasn't for these forums :D

I may be wrong on this...and if I am someone will correct me.

If you are wanting the trigger to run another show while your man show is running then, No, that can not happen. No matter how you do it, only one "show" can run at once.

When the trigger is pushed one of two things can happen...the main show can continue with the song /sequence that is playing and finish that song/sequnce THEN play the trigger show or song...or the trigger can stop the current show playing IMMEDIATLEY and then play the triggered show/song...

Like I said...if I am incorrect, hopefully someone will correct me...but I believe this is what can happen.

And within this scenario, there are I think three different ways the shows can play, which can be seen in the Show Editor and under the Interactive Tab.

Hi Trebs

I know that you can do what you want when running your interactive show(s) from a PC, but don't know whether it would work running from the director. The triggered sequences can only be an animation(s) set up under the magic toy section in the Showtime interactive sequences. The channels should be totally different from those used in the main musical sequences otherwise you will get channel conflicts.

Magic toy animation sequences start as soon as the trigger is initiated and continue in parallel with the main show.

Hope this helps - Geoff

Thanks for your help, looks like I may have to re-think things, maybe I will look at using ELL's instead of the showtime director and continue with the pc...

Thanks for your help, Trebs

I don't know if this would work as I've never tried it... But I would think it is possible to have a seperate standalone controller (off the network) with triggers hooked up for these animations? Then the network would consist of all your other controllers running the show. Basicly, two networks. One for the show and one for the Triggered Animations. :P
