DavidPeterson
Maybe LOR 3 will help, but this year I'm having trouble getting into the spirit. I'd invested in LEDs from a vendor at Planet Christmas and got burned bad (they did as well, even they had to superglue the covers back on, etc.)Any advice on getting out of the funk? I just need to figure out what to use for lights...maybe have to go back to my power draining incandescents...
rikerz
I had the same problem with 4th of July this year and my fireworks. They (whoever they are) say to take a year off every now and then to break up the monenty (sp). I couldnt do that so I put on a small show and it turned out to be my best show yet! For me this year, I am installing a new 30ft megatree and changing EVERYTHING. Last year I changed to all LEDs and that was great! I too am thinking that S3 will bring a new about and help us all to get away from the worries of the world. God bless ya... Jeff
bob_moody
I have to admit I know the "burnout" feeling and the "everyone is expecting to see the display" thing.I have so much to do that I dont know where to start. Sequencing is not even my top worry. I have electrical service to revamp, cords to make etc etc .. oh yeah .. and then there is all the sequencing to do.I did however find solice in one thing. I put a realistic (for me) cap on what I expect from my display. So many I see now are beyond over the top. They are stage presentations or Vegas shows. Its not about the "pretty factor", or "isnt that Christmasy" anymore its all about the "WOW and HOLY S*&^ FACTOR". I'm not saying I dont go WOW .. but ...In some ways what started out as a hobby/enjoyment for all has become a "Rich Mans indulgence". 2000 LOR channels, DMX, DMX appliances, LED this and LED that ... Rant>My advice.. first and formost do it for YOU and YOUR family and let the friends and neighbors enjoy it as they will.Sandra and I live 10 miles north of Huntsville in the country... build it .. and they will come. Every year we see more cars pass by. But even if I never had 1 single car come by and stop, I would still put it up ... Sandra loves it and thats enough for me.Bob

My best suggestion would be, if you have video of your display... watch it. Take a Saturday that you're cleaning the garage... (so. you'll probably be alone with your thoughts) and play Christmas music all day. Think about the show and forget about the issues you spoke of... Get out the laptop and Sequence. Hang on, S3's a comin'! I hope you get over the funky blues soon!JeffI certainly agree with Jeff on his points... I have 15 or so mini trees to make so I go out to the shop, turn on "The Santa Clause" then watch and build... it does seem to put the spirit back in...Sorry about the original post. It really wasnt ment to negative in anyway. You asked a legitimate question and I highjacked the question with a rant.
TJ Hvasta
Keep things real.. keep the display as small or as large as YOU want it.. not what you think others want to see.. I'm not adding anything more this year except maybe a few more mini trees.. I changed my 8 string (8up/8down) multi-lights megatree to 32string RGB, added 4 archesm, and RGB Superstrings to the house outline in 2010. I'm happy with what I've got to put up now and -may- increase the number of strings across the lawn.. It's hard to get in the mood when it's 115F outside.. The proper music -does- help me tho..I had tried standing in front of the fridge, with the freezer door open, but that didnt help..
