New to LOR, but not Lights

I have done a pretty amazing light show since 2006, using PC Stage. I'm 24, and this year, I have broke down and bought LOR to open more doorways.
Gotta say I'm a little intimidated by this program, going from lines of code and faders to now using these grids... I'm a little worried. But I am going to do my best and would love any tips or encouragement you LOR pros may be able to offer me. I am hoping to have an even more amazing light show then ever before, but have my doubts, seeing as how this is my first time with this program....

Hi there, I jumped into LOR last year 2010 i had a static display prior but i bit the bullet and i tell ya, It's Fantastic! It may seem a bit daunting to start off with but it's not difficult at all! I have no electrical background, I'm just an average joe, but it is really easy! In 2010 i thought i'd just go all out so i got 32 channels and 2 CCR's, And it was easy! Welcome to LOR and the Addiction of Christmas Lighting!

Thanks! I've been running 108 channels since 06'
I have to get the DMX converter box, as all my channels are run off of actual DMX dimmer boxes, so I really hope I set this up right for that situation. I'd hate to have to re-program everything last minute...
The main thing that caught my eye was being able to create the illusion that an object created of rope lights was singing. So a custom created singing Santa is my new hook this year! I think I may need to check out this "track" feature a bit more, sounds like it might make my programming less clustered?

Download a couple free sequences and try to get a feel for how it will look in the sequence editor. LOR has a couple and lorsequences.com has tons.

Welcome to the madness! ;) Do you have any videos of your previous work?
It is also helpful to you and us if you would please update your profile to include where you're from. Northern displays have different issues to contend with than the south and vise-versa. Someone may be near you and willing to help or may want to come see your display in season.

I have videos from last year, youtube keeps cutting them due to audio copyright issues. Is there another site you guys use to post videos without many issues?

Pretty nice display. It'll be interesting to hear how you like programming with LOR compared to what you're used to. Plus to see what your new display will be like. Best of luck, and don't be afraid to ask questions, we've all been in your shoes. This is my second year.
