Sequence Tracks

Is there a shortcut to use for this:

Each Sequence I have will have the same # of channels and each Channel will have the same designation...Can I copy that channel config to a new sequence? Or do I have to do each new Sequence individually?

ex'''Box #1 Unit 01.1 LUW Red

Unit 01.2 LLW Red

Under the Edit tab there is an option to Export/Import Channel configuration. Export it to a file and you can import it in another sequence.

Once you have your channel layout and visulizer done you can go to the tool bar at the top and hit EDIT...scroll down and find EXPORT... click that and it will ask for a name. Name it and then when you open a new sequence..Do the same thing except IMPORT and your set.

Under EDIT

Import Channel Configuration...

but first, if you have not done so, open up a sequence that has the channel configuration as you like it and then go to EDIT/EXPORT Channel Configuration and name it anything you like...

EDIT:

Wow...three replies at the same time!!! LOL

Certainly worth a try ...one thing that happened and I have not confirmed it ...but I had an exsisting sequence and I imported my new track to that sequence. When I looked at my Spiral mega tree Track 32 channels ...the channel grid is missing and all the timings are as well but it plays as if it was there?

Is that possible...I have not had a drink nor do I smoke anything...Anymore...So what gives?

by chance did it move everything down?

Did you scroll all the way to the bottom of the channels?

Actually , yes it did....why would it do that?

I believe when you import, it adds the import to what is already in the sequence, especially if the channel config is a different file name...

and I THINK if it is the same File name, it just overwrites it...

I am off to test my theory now...

since I don't remember the answer which was discussed in anther post a along time ago... :(

EDIT:

Yep...appears I was correct:

Importing a DIFFERENT file name puts that Channel Configuration ahead of the old...using a a configuration with the SAME file name overwrites the current configuration.

So...open your sequence, delete all the channels and import the Channel Configuration you want.

well I did name the file a differnt name than the original...
So I did this twice ....the second time it worked fine...it created a new track of 48 channels which is what I had Exported and then I did it again with another new Trak of 15 channels and it worked fine...no tracks had been moved out of their original posistiona dn all grids stayed as they are

hmmm...that isn't what my test did...

I will try and find that old post where I think Bob explained it...

Whoa I dont know what you are talking about Jim.

A sequence has no knowledge of the config which was used on it in the past. I was really tempted to underline and bold blue caps the above but I didnt want to appear too O'ish.

The filename does not effect behavior of the import. It is simply based on the count. If you have 10 and import 12 then there are 2 new positions at the bottom. Your effects stay in the same position as they were but the channel name or number may get changed by the imported config.
