Pneumatics what controller

Just wondering what controller to use with pneumatics. I want to start using pneumatics with my Halloween props and I don't know if lor has any controller to accommodate. 24v/12v?
Thanks,
Dave

Thanks! I don't know if you have used this card before but can you have one side be 5 or 7 volts instead? I would think so all it's doing is switching from the input. Any insight w this?

another work around it you just have one or two channels at a different voltage, and you only need to turn on and off, you can always use a SSR (solid state relay) on that channel if you have a lot of 12v stuff on others and don't want to loose a side of the card just for a few channels at different voltage.

Hope that makes sense...:?

You can have many different voltages if you need too. Don't hook you positive wires to the card except for 12V. You can hook the various positive voltages directly to the item to be controlled. The card controls the ground side.

The LOR DC card can control 2 different voltages. The negatives (or cathodes) are switched. The postive is common (can be thought of as a positive ground or common anode)for each side of the board

The various pneumatic wire frames I have built used old dishwasher water valves to control the air cylinder. Rhese are 120 volt so I could use them with the basic controllers. Slow acuatiopn is achived by pulsing the valve in the sequence. Longhorn Leghorn in the avatar is 7' tall, bends in the middle and mouth moves.

  • 5 weeks later...

I use a few pneumatic cylinders with 110v coils. Each channel is connected directly to the solenoid valve. If I was going to use any other voltage, I would use a SSR to fire the valve and keep the other channels for lighting.

Unless, you plan on having 16 cylinders in which case I'm very interested in what your planning!!
