Anyone who has bought from HolidayCoro.com before. I have a question for you.

Does anyone know when, & how often, HolidayCoro.com, holds their sales?

I want to buy some CoroStars for this year, but would like to do it during a sale! I "just" signed up for the email list earlier this week. I have searched the forum before starting this topic, and did not find my questions asked or answered.

I haven't specifically used the coro stars, but have seen them in action in person. They are a cool addition to a display. I use a lot of David's other items (US flag, singing pumpkin, Tune to sign, Quad Super String Bulb holders, RGB Megaballs)....David turns out great stuff and he is easy to work with in designing something that he doesn't carry. I don't think you will be dissapointed.

I have them and love them in my display. I use the Rainbow Spotlights in mine controlled by the Rainbow Brain. However, like most of the Holiday Coro projects, I would never build them again. I find the stuff extremely time consuming to build. It is by no means difficult, but it is time consumming. I have been working on my CoroFlakes (2 of them) for about 4 weeks now. :? I do love the way they look in my display though. You can see them in actian in any of my videos from last year.

FYI, I haven't bought anything from Holidaycoro. After looking at their website and watching some of their videos, IMHO their stuff requires too much assembly and cutting on your part. you have to use the packaging to cut and build the sides for a lot of his stuff. there is a lot of measuring, straight edge cutting and fitting. then you have to provide your own hot glue to built it. Just seems like a lot of extra work for what they provide to you. I could go buy coroplast locally and build these myself with just about as much work.

Just my opinion...

David (HolidayCoro) has AMZING stuff and is VERY well taught out and EASY to assemble. I am not 100% sure but David has run multi month sales and does announce things in his mailing list so make sure to watch that. He is also good about responding to email.

Ray -

We run a pre-season discount that starts in January at 20% and then decreases monthly through June. We do run from time to time a discount on selected items, though usually those announcements are only via our mailing list. This is typical for most holiday retailers, most which offer their discounts are early in the season.

All of our products are DIY based - we sell no 100% complete products. Each product is different as to what it requires - both in materials and time - though we make every effort to provide clear documentation as to what is required in our assembly manuals and/or assembly videos. Some projects take just a few minutes and others can take as long as 3 hours. Several week’s time? No, I personally assemble multiple prototypes prior to selling them to work out any issues and make tweaks - so I have a pretty good idea as to the amount of time it takes. If you have questions about an individual items assembly time, please feel free to contact me (PM or on our website) and I'll be happy to email or call you with specifics. And yes, our CoroFlake is the single longest to assemble item, though when complete, the results are really stunning.

Here are just a few reasons to consider HolidayCoro products:

* Check coro pricing and availability in your area - it is not uncommon to see single sheet prices running in the $20 range, not including your time and money to source them. So for some items, a HolidayCoro produced item maybe cheaper than for the self-sourced coro alone.

* It is also often hard to find a supplier of black coro that is used in a number of our solutions (RGB usually.)

* We cut our coro on a computer controlled, $18k CNC machine. This allows us to produce extremely complex but very accurate (thousands of an inch) designs and for some of those designs, such as CoroStars, CoroFlakes, MegaMatrix, etc those tolerances are very important to ensure that the final product works well and looks good. Additionally, because the CNC machine can produce such complex designs just as easy it could a simple design, we are able to make major improvements on designs, such as those of the CoroStar that just would be impossible "by hand".

* For mini-light solutions, we pre-scribe the back side of the design so that you know exactly which path to take when populating the product with lights.

* We design and re-design products as many as a dozen times before releasing them. The CoroFlake alone went through half a dozen physical revisions (that’s after being designed in a CAD program) before we "got it right". This ensures that when you get your product you will have something that has been thought out and won’t leave you wondering “why did they do that?”.

* As our products are DIY, we provide extensive documentation and after-sale support on the items we stock. We want you to be successful and to enjoy the process and not spend time re-inventing the wheel. Call or email us - it's on a paper we include with each order.

* Our items are produced right here in the USA with US materials on US produced machines.

* We support our Holiday Lighting community with sponsorship for nearly all the minis held in the US. I also personally make every effort to give back to the community through articles in PC Magazine, training classes, extensive RGB and other educational materials (http://www.holidaycoro.com/rgb & http://www.holidaycoro.com/2010LSHWorkshop are just some) and many helpful posts at a variety of forums. HolidayCoro tries very hard to be a value to the overall community.

I completely welcome criticism on one of our designs (in-fact we survey our users - http://www.holidaycoro.com/myorder.asp after the sale), though it’s hard to take criticism from someone that has never purchased or assembled one of our items. To address specific concerns: “you have to use the packaging to cut and build the sides for a lot of his stuff” – as we ship our products in coro, on just two of our products (CoroFlake and Coro NorthStar) we use some of the coro material from the packing to form the sides. This allows us to save our customers and extra ~$8 in costs per item. In all the items we’ve sold that use this method, only once have we had an issue where the material was not suitable for use and in that one case we sent complete replacement units again at our cost. “you have to provide your own hot glue to built it” – we don’t want to include tools, material or other items that you most often will have already or can easily source locally. This isn’t any different than DIY flood lights that require you to provide solder and a soldering iron. “IMHO their stuff requires too much assembly and cutting on your part” – again, this is highly dependent on the product. Some items can be assembled, literally, in minutes, others may take several hours. For all products we sell, excluding the Coro NorthStar and the CoroFlake, there is NO cutting required at all.

Ray, as to your concern about the CoroStar cost - the reason that they cost $8.91 per star is due to the amount of time it takes to produce them (~2 hours for each 10) and that they require 3.5 sheets of coro (1 black, 2.5 white) to produce.

I am very happy to say that in the entire time we have been in operation, not a single person has ever requested a refund for a product. That said, I will contact Greg (ponddude) to address any concerns he may have and if he wishes, provide a refund for his purchase.

Thank you,

David

I'm a big fan of the products from Holiday Coro...To me, they strike a great balance between value, quality, and design. I have no hesitation recommending them...

I actually like to build items for our display, so the Holiday Coro product line appeals to me. We stuffed a lot of coro trees for the display last year...

This year, we've built some RGB Mega Balls as well....

Great products, and great engineering behind them. I'm looking forward to seeing David in a few weeks at the Lone Star Academy...I'm hoping he'll be giving a tour or two of his workshop, but haven't had a chance to ask him yet....

Randy -

In 2009 I hosted a "pre-party" get-together at my shop and I'd love to do that again. Let me talk to the LSH people and see what they say - sounds like fun - though I'd need to get started with the cleaning now!

While Greg (ponddude) didn't request we provide him a refund - we went ahead and provided him a full refund for his purchase of the two CoroFlakes and shipping costs. When Greg has some time avaiaible, we will be working with him to determine how we may be able to incorporate any improvements he may have into the CoroFlake product.

We want EVERY customer of ours to be 100% completely happy with their purchase and if you are a HolidayCoro.com customer, please feel free to contact us via phone, email or via our website (all of which are listed along with the documentation included in your order) and we will do everything possible to fix, replace or make good your order.

Thank you,
David Moore
