mmais68569
What I want to know is if I set my Unit ID on one computer & then run it on another computer does the Comm Port need to be changed.I set the unit number with my laptop back in my work shop & it asked me the question , Is this the Comm Port the show will run on & I said yes. Well of course when I cam back in the house & checked the Comm Port on my home computer ( this is where the show will run) was different. Will this be a problem? Ron Amedee
once the unit number is set it will remain until you change it. The com port though, Must match what the computer see's.
Guest guest
You might be confusing comm port and unit ID.You'll set the unit ID on each controller, that remains constant, and is a function of the controller, nothing to do with your computer. Your controller set to unit ID 1 on one computer will be unit ID 1 when you connect to it from another computer. For your computer to communicate via the usb->RS-485 adapter, you need to choose a com port on the the computer you are using. That can change from computer to computer, but will have no effect on the controller unit ID.
mmais68569
Thanks that is what I thought about the Comm Port changing. I do know that the Unit ID stays the same. Mike
