What I want to know is if I set my Unit ID on one computer & then run it on another computer does the Comm Port need to be changed.
I set the unit number with my laptop back in my work shop & it asked me the question , Is this the Comm Port the show will run on & I said yes. Well of course when I cam back in the house & checked the Comm Port on my home computer ( this is where the show will run) was different. Will this be a problem?

You might be confusing comm port and unit ID.

You'll set the unit ID on each controller, that remains constant, and is a function of the controller, nothing to do with your computer. Your controller set to unit ID 1 on one computer will be unit ID 1 when you connect to it from another computer.

For your computer to communicate via the usb->RS-485 adapter, you need to choose a com port on the the computer you are using. That can change from computer to computer, but will have no effect on the controller unit ID.
