Hard drive

Just saw a new hard drive that is out and my first thought was,"Somebody on this forum will put it to the test! It was on Cool Tools, consumer electric show. They put it under water and then shot it with a shotgun, and it still worked, it did not survive the M-16 fully auto. It was from "iosafe", kinda pricey $149.00 for 250 gig I think, but if you can't kill it, not too bad. So who is going to be the first one to buy one and shoot it with a shotgun??? Any guesses??

IOSafe... good drives. Great concept!

The best part about purchasing a drive from IOSafe is the Data Recovery Service (DRS.) https://iosafe.com/products-drs

Doesn't matter what the reason, (as they point out your kid could throw the drive into the swimming pool) with DRS they will go through the process to recover the data and send it back to you.

One other feature I like that they incorporated into the case a method to secure the drive to your local machine. Granted, this would stop the dedicated thief (nothing will) but it would stop the 'smash and grab' type robberies, as they would go for something easier and quicker to remove from the house.

For those of you who are a bit on the paranoid side when it comes to data backups, I would look into IOSafe drives. As mentioned they are not the cheapest drives on the planet, but the ability to withstand disaster (fire/flood, etc) would most likely pay off for you down the road.
