OK. So I finally got LORS2 and I want to start to play around with it a bit to familiarize myself with it but I have just one question......where do I get music?

Are you asking WHERE you get music?

Or are you asking "HOW do I choose which songs to use?

Brian answered the first question..

the second question can be answered MANY ways...

But I think most, if not all of us, will agree..pick songs that you LIKE...becasue you will be hearing them a LOT over the next few months as you sequence them (probably a few hundred times for EACH song)...and the again when they are being played during your show...

A lot of us have videos posted of our songs and the link to our websites/videos are in our signatures...so you can get a lot of good ideas for songs there...

see mine below...

well assuming you already have caniacsong.mp3 elsewhere on your system you would need to move it my documents/LOR/music I think that is the default. BUT within you can define locations (i.e. c:loweryChristmasMusiccaniacsong.mp3) for both music and mp3's.

so basically I just take the song from wherever (i.e., itunes) and move it to the LOR music file and then I can open that for sequencing? or am I off base here?

others will most likely need to chime in on that, i think you have to import it into a sequence and define if you want to use beat wizard. you might also want to make sure all your music is 128kps so that stuff stays in sync.

start a new music sequence...

it will then ask you what music file you want to use...

then just browse for it and if you don't ever move it, it will know where to locate it.

I myself, put all my songs into an Audio file within the LOR directory..

which is found under your "My Documents" (LightORama folder)...

Basically you have it.
All LOR music sequences are linked to a music (or audio) file. They aren't part of the sequence, just linked to it.
So if you happen to move a sequence from another computer, you have to move the audio file also.

When you create a sequence it asks what file you want to link to it.

Does this clear it up?

if, for some reason, you need to change your music file after creating a sequence, you would use

EDIT>Media File

And like caniac mentioned, using a fie with a Constant Bit Rate (CBR) of 128 will help you when you are sequencing...if it is not a CBR, sometimes the song will not be in sync with your sequencing...especially if you start the song other that at the very beginning...

having said that, download this free software (Audacity). Somewhere in the near future you will use it..to either edit a song (make it shorter) or to create an CBR file of one of your songs.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

you will also need to download something called "LAME" an MP3 encoder

When I absolutely CAN NOT find an MP3 of a song I am looking for for purchase anywhere, then I'll use the FREE STUDIO software suite from DVDVideoSoft.

You can download it direct from their website here:

http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/

downoad their FULL "FREE STUDIO" software suite, the software is all ABSOLUTELY FREE and it will allow you to download YouTube Videos, convert YouTube videos direct from YouTube to MP3, download the video, then convert it using an Video to MP3 converter.

The full "FREE STUDIO" software suite does just about everything from creating and burning Audio and Video CD's and DVD's, to stripping out audio from the video files, the only thing it DOES NOT DO is allow you to edit the audio(MP3/WAV,etc.or video files(MPG, AVI, WMV, etc.)

You'd need to find other programs to edit them, but the DVD Free Studio does pretty much everything else.

However, you will need something like Audacity or another MP3/Audio editor to edit the music, as some videos have sounds or music at the beginning or end of the file, and you need to remove those from the actual song part of it.

Have fun!
