testraub
As much as I would love to be working hard on display items, for the past few weeks, I have been fighting a battle with a great blue heron. He's gotten a few of the fish in our pond, even thuogh I've been adding stuff to keep him away. Today I had a brainstorm. Strobes! I wanted to add a few to my show anyway, so today ordered 1 box from CDI. It will be GREAT if they scare him away, but even if not, at least I have them. Tom StraubI like the way you think, if I can find something supporting them working on stray cats then the boss might let me have more.

Tom StraubI also have a Koi pond that I had bird problems with. Take some monofilament fishing line and go over your pond with it so it covers about every two feet or so, just kinda criss cross it over the pond. The birds DO NOT like touching it, within about 4-5 days they will stay away from it. I lost about $500.00 worth of Koi before I ran across this idea, it really works great!!! Now that you have that problem solved, send me your strobes and I will check them out for you.EDIT: Forgot to say, keep it about 1-2 feet off the water. testraub
Been there Done that He "fishes" from the rocks around the pond. Lucky for me, we only stock goldfish...With one Koi that was sold as a goldfish. He's about 12" long now We "net" the pond in the fall and winter. He's just battling with me to see who wins. I'm building a "layered" defence network against him. The strobe will be step "4" (I did make a temporary defence with a LOR controller, motion sensor, and 4 flood lights)Tom Straub
shfr26
I put the line out about 2 feet from the pond, that way they have to touch it to get to the pond, also use an owl statue with a moving head. Guess if I want strobes, I'll have to buy some.
testraub
Yup, you'll have to get your own. But I did get a video of my temporary defense "strobes" Power to channel 9-16 powers the motion sensor, the motion sensor powers channels 1-8, 1-5 are the "strobes" It may work on Mr. Heron...Will have to see. :?You can see the video here... http://vimeo.com/24197880
