Did anyone else get any ideas from the "star" that was behind Kristie Alley and Maks during their first dance on Dancing With The Stars on Monday night?

Hmmmm....so am I the only one on this forum who watches Dancing With The Stars?

Or the only one MAN (stupid) enough to admit it??? lol

IF you didn't catch it last night..it's on YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CdpfIJ98ik

The actual dance starts about the 2:00 mark...which is a good view of the "star"...

After reading this, I'm going to try coming up with using the two different sized LED snow drop tubes. I brought out what Steins had (6 - 36 inch & 12 - 24 inch) tubes last season at 4.99 & 3.99. These are pure white and should be interesting in seeing what I can come up with. Thanks for the post and getting new ideas going!

That was one of my thoughts that they looked like those "dripping tubes"...but I opted for the "melting icicle" lights this year instead...

Post a video if and when you get it made!!!

When I watched DWTS last night, this is exactly what I was thinking could be used for that. To me I think a CCR is too much money for something like that unless you're wanting the different colors. I myself liked the pure white that they had last night.

BTW Jim, you are not the only one that watches that show, I also watch "So you think you can dance" which starts at the end of the month and "American Idol". I never miss an episode of either of those shows, Keeps me on the good side of my wife for the nights that I want to spend on my hobby, plus I like them.

watch those plus "Survivor" and most anything Gordon Ramsey (put myself thru college working just about every freaking restaurant there was so I can relate to most of what he says). I sometimes "communicate" the same way as Ramsey to the point that my better half calls me "The Polish Gordon Ramsey". It use to get her upset when I would act that way at a restaurant (they are just having a bad day she would say) but after our dinner at TGIFriday's last week it gave her a new understanding (didn't know food could be burned like that, they figured if you put enough terriyaki glaze on it that no one would notice that it was burnt beyond recognition)..

I would love to compete on Hell's Kitchen, but I'm not into a lot of gourmet crap. I'm a meat and potatoes kind of guy. I would just be in it to learn, I enjoy production work like that, being on the show would be a fun challenge.

I would rather be on Master Chef, now that i don't have to put myself thru school I love the creative aspect of cooking.

Me? I really like to cook. But that's only because I really LOVE to eat!

In the video of the show, the light from the star looks so smooth -- non-segmented. Think that's mostly the diffuser? Dunno.

The lights look wider than a CCR to me... Hmmm.

If anyone was wondering there are 30 seperate segments in that star. If someone was to use CCR's you would be able to change the colors of the star at your descretion. It would be interesting to see one for a display though.

IT MIGHT BECOME ALL THE RAGE FOR THE NEXT SEASON!!!!!

I thought the star was pretty cool. It had the warp speed effect going on. One could have alot of fun with that.

I'm sure Jim was working on light sequences and Idol just happened to be on in the background :P

Makes me think of the little LED toys where they have 4 or 5 leds on an arm that spins. The lights are turned on and off to make patterns and sometimes words. Wonder if this could be done on a larger scale. Maybe buy a surplus helicopter, put the blades on the side and put lights on them. Maybe renew the umbrella policy at the same time.

So can someone post a pic or a link to video? I missed it and can not find it.
