scubado Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I had my main computer fail again recently and had to use my show computer as my main. It actually is better than what I was using as a main. I went to a city wide rummage sale and found a 2.4Ghz P4 computer for $3 for running my lights. It had no hard drive, but I had plenty floating around here. My town has their city wide rummage this weekend, hope to find Christmas/Halloween decor.
Caleb Linburg Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I just got a nativity set that is a wire frame and it hangs for only $3
Guest guest Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I usually buy my stuff from a wide assortment of places, Big Lots, E-Bay (most of my BM's came from e-bay), PC, K-Mart, Wal-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot and Target.Just wish these stores would carry a larger assortment of BOTH Halloween and Christmas items like Woolworths', Woolco, Zayre, Miller Dept. Stores, JM Fileds and W.T. Grant used to do in the good ol' days when I was growing up.Now most stores have a sparse collection at best and you're lucky if you can find a blowmold item at them.I look at Garage Sales, Estate Sales, Thrift Stores, Goodwill, Salvation Army and Flea Markets too, but thus far have scored nothing at any of them for my lighting part of my display. Found a few small items like knick-knacks, but not something that could be displayed outside or even in a window.Maybe one day I may get lucky.

Geez Jeff - if you ever come down my street I hope you're looking the other way when you drive past the house. I don't know what would make me feel worse - losing something you found worth taking, or knowing that you didn't think that ANYTHING was worth taking.
scubado Posted May 15, 2011 Author Posted May 15, 2011 I got a nice indoor Christmas village with tote to keep it stored for $20. A 36" wireframe/ropelight snowflake for $4 and 3 24" ones for $2ea.
lightzilla Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 I do not fair so good at garage sales. I get the odd set of lights, maybe a Christmas CD, very occasionally I get a Blow Mold. However I needed 1 soldiers & 3 angels and I thought..... "well the only place left is the second hand store in Leduc,AB". So on November 4th I walked into the second hand store and right there was 1 angel, and one soldier and 2 fancy candles, and 2 mini candles. For $17.00 I thought that was good. Then I walked back in the store on November 14th and found 2 more angels and 2 Lamp posts. So for $8.00 I picked them up. I was happy I found that 1 soldier and the 3 angels that I needed the rest was a bonus.Found good Christmas CDs too at this second hand store.Never forget those 2nd hand stores.
